Hi,

I am in the process of preparing my wifer's AOS/GC package.  My wife is 6 months pregnant and she does not have any vaccination record from her home country.  I understand that I-693 requires her to take all the required vaccination shots if she does not have any vaccination record.  I also understand that she can submit the I-693 later before the GC interview and I do not need to include I-693 in the AOS package now.

Questions:

1.  At current timeline, how long does she need to wait for the Green Card interview?  We are trying to avoid the medical examination, specifically the vaccination shots, before the baby is born in February, 2022.

2.  Even after the baby is born, she plans to nurse the baby.  Can we get a note from her OB/GYN doctor stating that taking all these shots at the same time is not a good idea?

Anyone experience this dilemma while your wife is pregnant?  Any suggestions?

Thank you.

See link below. Your timeline is empty. In general, the processing times for i-485 is 12 months to 22 months depending on your field office. Seattle for example is really bad and could take 2 years.

Regarding vaccination for pregnant women, see below. Always google to find the most recent information and type “uscis policy manual X” to start. The USCIS Policy Manual is the bible and it usually provides all the links as you read information.

She should get the shots before even seeing the Civil Surgeon; just collect and save each proof of receiving each shot. Thus she could still spread out the shots as she wants to.

That's a very good idea.  Plus shots from Civil Surgeon is not covered by insurance whereas shots from her OB/GYN doctor is covered by insurance. Thank you very much.

Question, let's say I mail out the AOS package this week.  At this time, how many months do I wait for the first interview or how many months do I have to get all these shots done before seeing the Civil Surgeon?  I hope it is not like Chancecody said - 22 months to 2 years :)

you should consult your ob/gyn about the shoot. There are several shoot that a pregnant woman can not take.

Yes its cheaper if you did it on the other GP. USCIS GP charge the vaccine with very high price. But again, better consult with the OB/GYN. Get exemption letter then bring it to the medical check up.

I did my medical a month before i submit the whole package of the AOS. It will expire for like 2 years anyway if i sent it with the whole package and i wont slow down because RFE for it.

Thank you.

There is no way she will get an interview prior to February of 2022.  Average time nationally right now is around 24 months.
