That is how debt collectors make their money, they buy old debts from major companies then try to collect on the debts knowing full well they may or may not be successful on some, 50/50 chance they will collect on some of them. But like what was pointed out never pay any debt collector on their demand ALWAYS seek proof of the debt first! Side note if it is over 7 years the collector is SOL, but they try anyway hoping they can scare you. Congrats to you and relax!

I had my interview couple of weeks ago and passed and waiting for my oath after a few days.

 

today I got a call from a debt collector saying I owe money to my dentist. I never knew I owe money , anyway then I called the dentist and I knew that they couldn't process it via my insurance and they just asked me to pay the money via a collector without reaching out to me first.

 

long story short, I said fine and I paid the money to the collector and waiting for the invoice.

 

now what is the impact on me ? what will happen to my oath appointment when I go ?

 

should I answer "Yes" to this question "Since your interview, have you been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, convicted, fined, or imprisoned for breaking or violating any law or ordinance, including traffic violations?"
