Hello

So this is an update and interview review for k1 visa people if anyone needs it.

Category: k1

Embassy: Islamabad pakistan

My cousin, who is also my brother's fiance, had her interview today and this is what she told me. There was a long wait time. They didn't ask for any documents from her and just the questions. My brother's salary is enough so I guess they didnt take anything from her except her birth certificate and that too copy.

Anyways following questions were asked from her:

Where does he work?

Where does he live?

Are you married before?

Is he married before?

Have you visited outside pakistan?

How is he related to you?

Who is calling you?

What is your fiance salary?

Do you have any pictures?

How many siblings are you and your fiance?

Then he asked her if she knows the rules when she gets to usa and she said no so they said it is okay and gave her a paper to read them over and then told her that she got the visa. In the end she asked them 2 questions: when will she have to travel and when will her 90 days start and this is what the CO told her: minimum visa is for 90 days and max is 6 months and she will know when she gets the visa in hand and for the second one they said her 90 days start the day she gets the visa (issue date). That was it. She got her visa and now she will be getting the passport back in 2 weeks time I guess. Thanks to everyone for help.

6 months to travel starts from the date of the medical.

90 days admission for a K1

Visa goes in passport which she does not seem to have.

Is this a cousin marriage?  If so, it could cause issues depending on where they intend to marry and/or live.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I am just informing what the CO told her. She got the verbal confirmation about the visa and she is right now waiting for her passport now. Her interview was today.

Yes it is and it is allowed in Maryland. If not I am sure they have said something to her. They will marry in maryland.

CO is wrong

It is 90 days to marry after arriving in US not the visa issue date

Important thing is to take the I 94 when she arrives and apply for SS #

https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-of-us-citizens/visas-for-fiancees-of-us-citizens

In order to obtain a K-1 fiancé(e) visa, you and your fiancé(e) must intend to marry each other within 90 days of your fiancé(e) entering the U.S as a K-1 nonimmigrant.

This is a site of states that allow 1st cousins to marry

Okay got it. Thank you for that information. Question: that I-94 form, is that given at the entry or we have to get it ourselves?

As for the cousin marriage, I check here and in Maryland's state website, it is allowed. I have a cousin who is married to her first cousin and they live in MD (got married here).

Can anyone tell me that how to answer if they ask why did u plan to get married in us rather than in ur own country?

Just be honest about your reasons. Everyone has different reasons for marrying in the USA. I’m older than my fiancé and divorced and Christian. We feel our marriage will be more acceptable in the USA and we can have a big wedding.

Be honest with them.

Also look at your individual case because who knows they may not ask it. They are very well aware of Pakistan's culture and customs.

Does anyone know how long after the visa shows Issued on the CEAC site it is ready for pickup?

I have been checking the CGIfederal site, where DS-160 was filled out and I saw the update on the visa status there as well. It showed today the following: "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery" Does that mean it is almost ready for pickup? how long will that take?
