This process is painfully slow its been two years now since my wife had Biometrics taken and now website finally says ready for interview. Wow crazy slow process.

Who knows how long it will take to get an interview date and then the green card........

At least it will be a 10 year Green Card.  My wife has been waiting for almost 3 years for an I-751 interview.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

why do some get a 10 year and some people a 2 year green card?

In your case, If the couple has been married for 2 years or longer at the time the Green Card  is approved, it will result in a 10 year GC.

Depends on the length of the marriage at the time of I-485 approval.  Less than 2 years married -- 2-year GC.  Married for 2 years or more -- 10-year GC.
