Send it a week in. There is no rush but atleast you have peace of mind that USCIS won't throw shenanigans your way.

And file online. You will get receipt within 24 hours. The paper receipt will later make its way to you via mail but it is the same as the one you get online.

I filed mine online 2 weeks after window opened. By no means I am saying wait 2 weeks, but certainly wait a week in.

Appreciate it! Thank you—I will wait a week, shouldn’t make that much of a difference anyway

So my 90 days early filing window opened yesterday and I filed today. it’s showing as of November 12 my case was received. Did USCIS system just jump a day? I hope this doesn’t affect me and hopefully the system won’t mess up my case.

Three threads on essentially the same topic have been merged and moved into the US Citizenship Case Progress subforum.  Charmycole, please restrict further questions to THIS current thread only.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How will this affect me? I applied at noon on the day of my early eligibility. Will I get denied since it’s showing 91 days early although that’s not true. I was able to submit my application without issues too. I’m not sure why they’d let me if it was a day early (it isn’t).

WHere on the application are you seeing 91 days? I also applied as soon as my window opened. I think it was 2am or sth,,, I applied online. Where can I check the date on my application.

Why did you apply so early?  I am not criticizing.....I am just curious.  Some people have reported rejections when applying within a few hours of the window opening.

Why the rush to apply 🤷🏾‍♂️ I dont get it ?

What date should OP have applied on? As a software developer I really want to know.

It is clear that this software bug is still not fixed.  My wife will not be using the online method to apply in 11 months.  USCIS / INS is simply informed at IT.  Always has been. Always will be.

So much victim blaming on this thread.  As there was on @Hypnos ‘s thread.

Agree.  They need to fix that software problem.  Personally, I recommend always waiting a day or two after any filing window opens just to avoid the hassles of dealing with USCIS mistakes.

When one suggests waiting  a “day or two” that means one is uncertain as to what the software bug is and how it will manifest.

That is to be expected. The nature of software bugs is that is generally impossible to assign a probability that a software program will complete its tasks or are even complete them accurately.

So “one or two days” has no concrete basis for assuring anyone. It might as well be “one or two” weeks.  Or centuries.

As one who has seen 100s of bizarre software bugs and manifestations thereof, it certainly doesn’t assure me,

Whereas, while USPS has its own reliability issues, we know that if we buy a priority mail stamp from usps dot com, a usps kiosk, or even a usps clerk we can look at date of the stamp and barring individual human error, check  with 100 certainty that the date is at or inside the lawful 90 day window.

If it isn’t, we have the freedom to discard (or refund) that stamp and buy a new one.

We can keep doing this in a loop until we get a valid date:

1. Wait until the 90th day before 3 year anniversary of resident since date

2. Buy USPS priority mail stamp.

3. If date on stamp is before 90th day bride anniversary, go to step 2.

4. mail N-400 package

As there is software involved at step 2, we might never get a valid stamp this way: we might never get to step 4,  but we are 100 percent certain that barring individual human error we won’t send the package with an invalid stamp.  Regardless statistically most people will get to step 4.

Now this doesn’t preclude USCIS implementing software at the receiving end that still records the wrong date.  However USPS postage date stamps have stood the test of time in courts and btw USPS will sell a tracking product that lets anyone verify the tracking history of a delivery years after the fact.

Thus do not use online N-400 filing if time is of the essence.  Use online N-400 filing if you prioritize convenience.

I can not justify my action now. It is in the past now..and I relied on their system to auto check when I'm eligible vs not!

OK.  I was not asking for justification.  I was just curious if there was good reason to submit an application within a few hours of the window opening.  Thanks for your reply.

Interesting! My GC was issued 2/7/2019 and my window opened 11/9/2021. I applied 11/11/2021 around 8 PM and the receipt date and transaction date I got was actually 11/12/2021 around 2 AM! Won’t be an issue but just an observation.

I like to accomplish things...and this is how I'm everyday with the things I have to do.. I do them and get them out of way! If that makes sense...
