I'm not sure I understand your concern.  The I-864 form only asks to list COUNTRY of domicile.  Then the proof of US domicile need only show ties to the US.  No requirement for any particular state in relation to intended US address.

Thats right..   I guess I was just wondering if its important what we put in "Sponsor's Mailing Address", "Sponsor's Physical Address"  (Part 4) with regard to the domicile. For example as we are living abroad, the two would be our address abroad..  bu maybe we should rather put sponsors current US-mailing address in there?

Physical Address -- put where you actually reside currently.  So yes, that should be your address abroad.

Mailing address -- it's ok to put either your foreign or your US mailing address even if your physical address is abroad.  It doesn't matter which US state.

Correct, but one should actually be able to receive mail there, so I doubt the California address can be used as a mailing address.  They can enter three addresses, residence, mailing, and intended, on various forms, as needed.
