Hello all

I initially filled and submitted my application during the pandemic , at the time , the embassy in my city wasn't issuing appointments for tourist visas. I was then a student in one of the universities in berlin. At the moment I have graduated and currently in search of a job , meanwhile the Visa office is accepting applications for tourist Visa and i would like to go for my appointment. My fear now is being asked some questions like , how i plan to sustain myself during my trip or source of income etc. Do i pause the application for now and get a job or go as an unemployed resident

NOTE: I am not german , i'm from one of the third world countries which makes me a potential immigrant in the eyes of a consular officer.

I need Advise/opinions!!!

What were you going to answer if you had gotten the interview as a student? I mean answer honestly are are you planning to finance your trip, ticket and stay. I am sure they will ask who you are visiting.

So how were you planning to pay back then when you were still a student?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I had & still have savings from when i was a student , I am fully capable of taking care of my expenses and I have a bank statement to support that claim

Then go ahead and apply and be truthful. Good luck.

Well there you go have those statements in hand and ready at the interview. Good luck. Don;t ask for any crazy amount of time though.

Your chances are not very great. I’ll put it around 20% probability of success. Good luck though.

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

What about this situation is "URGENT!!!"?  This makes it seem you feel a desperate need to get to the US.  If there is such a reason to get to the US that would make you ineligible for a visitor visa (such as a job offer, a family member you want to live with, etc), don't go to an interview thinking you can conceal that.  Consular officers can frequently discern those feelings of urgency or desperation and will likely learn your intentions and deny the visa.

I'm not saying this is your plan -- just how it looks here and how it might present in an interview.  You already have an uphill battle, since you don't really seem to have anything that requires you to return to any country outside the US....haven't lived in your home country because of school, studies are done, no job....seems like the definition of a 214(b) refusal for immigrant intent.  That, BTW, is how consular officers need to look at every visa applicant -- that they intent to immigrate to the US until they can show otherwise --not just people from third world counties.

To be honest, when you were a student you had a reason to leave the US. You had to go back to Germany and finish your studies. Now, you are employed and you graduated, so the tie to your country (Germany or whichever is your country of origin) is very weak.

I'd wait and find a job. You can visit any other country in the world in the meantime. Your visa is most likely going to be denied and then you'll have to wait a couple of years to apply again, or they'll think you are desperate and keep rejecting you.

I honestly don't get some of the answers that were given before. Of course you need to show funds to pay for your trip, but that's just basic and many people that can pay for the trip get denied.
