Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well? I have a quick question regarding the Healthcare. gov. Can I get insurance from the marketplace and wouldn't be an issue with the K1 petition or I cannot?

I currently have insurance with my current employer but I don't see myself working for them next year and the deadline for marketplace is December 15th.

Thank you for your insights.

I doubt they care who you are insured by. Many people change jobs, move have and other such changes and it doesn't affect anything.

If your employment changes, it will be a qualifying event and you'll be able to switch to marketplace coverage for a short time, and you won't have to worry about the December 15th deadline.

Also, when you get married it will also be a qualifying event that allows you to switch to marketplace coverage for a short time, and you won't have to worry about the December 15th deadline.

You also probably be able to use COBRA for 18 months and keep your current coverage if you don't like the marketplace options.  You just have to pay the full premium of that insurance.
