Guys,

Here in VJ, the processing times (PD dates) are stated as follows, right now:

image.png.842ca662f4d90546cbe69b7f70e8dd71.png

However, when I go to the USCIS website, this is what I see (I personally am very confused as to which SC has my petition, so I'm posting times for both TX and NEB SCs):

image.thumb.png.d7e8614c3e93d470db73f80f992d3179.png

image.thumb.png.496b79d92425a5f82a272a940df1c8b2.png

There is a big difference in the dates as shown:

For NEB, VJ is showing December 13, 2020: USCIS is showing April 9, 2021.

For TX, VJ is showing January 3, 2021: USCIS is showing October 19, 2020.

Can anyone explain the difference? My PD is May 10, 2021, and I'm a USC. But again, I'm not 100% sure where my petition is, due to having received I-797s from both Nebraska and Texas.

At the bottom of the VJ page, it states "based on member data".

There are many more applicants for immigration than members here.

VJ shows the average of what VJ members reported, USCIS goes by some other metric.  Perhaps top 75, 80, 90 or 99 percentile?

The times USCIS uses is based on data captured about 2 months ago. So, they are not giving an accurate snapshot of what is happening in real time.

They have write up on the website explaining the cycle time methodology  the use for the I-130.

Cycle Time Methodology

Cycle time is the number of previous months of receipts it takes to equal the current month’s pending receipt volume.

For example, if a specific form has 500 applications pending for the month of April 2020 and received 200 receipts in February 2020 and 300 receipts in March 2020, then the cycle time for this form in April 2020 is 2 months (200 + 300 = 500 pending applications). This is defined as the lower range value. The upper range value is normally the lower range value x 1.3.

For example, if the cycle time is 2 months, then the upper range value would be 2 months x 1.3 = 2.6 months (rounded up to 3 months).

In this example, the range posted on the website for this form for April 2020 would be 2 Months to 3 Months.

I personally don't find the USCIS processing times for individual service centers useful as I've read reports on here and elsewhere online of petitions being moved from service center to service center. Some have been told a different service center each time they Ask Emma. You might only discover your true Service Center on your NOA2.

USCIS also provides information on historical times across for all USCIS offices.

Currently, the  median processing time for 2021 is 10.2 months.

LOL, I hope that by NOA2 I'd know, but this process is cryptic at best, and getting info seems like it's literally an act of congress. You'd think they could be a little more transparent, but oh well.

Guys, I'm not sure where to even look for an answer to my question. Here is the background....

CR-1 petition, filed May 10, 2021

In active review, December 22, 2021

Texas Service Center

Visa Journey is telling me I'm past normal processing times, in both automated message and on the ticker (see below, 1st snip): But in the second snip (from the USCIS website) it's saying unfortunately, I'm within normal processing times (And their estimate has greatly increased in the last several days from 10-14 months, to 11-14.5 months)

So, does this mean I can make a case inquiry or no? I'm guessing not, but why then is Visa Journey saying my approval is past due, and showing cases from May 19, 2021 having been processed? That's 10 days after my PD, and actually VJ has had dates as for out as July 20, 2021 being processed at Texas.

I'm appreciate some feedback on this, because I'm seriously getting depressed. It's like the goalposts keep getting moved and the petition is no where near where it should be.

Visajourney estimates are just that - estimates.  The very bottom of that page states "based on VJ Member Data".  If someone entered the wrong date in the timeline, then the data would be off.  Also, VJ timelines are a subset of all petitions submitted to USCIS.

The official processing times are stated by USCIS.  If you are within the normal processing time for your service center, then you cannot submit a case inquiry.

Unfortunately, I thought this was the case. That totally makes sense. Thank you for the input.

You are not past processing times, imo.  But, I think you on the verge of getting word from USCIS.  The VJ processing page just means that one or some I-130s have been processed on May 19th.....not necessarily all of them.  "USCIS is like a huge grocery store.  Some checkout lanes are just slower then others" (quote from @geowrian (RIP).  Patience is still the key.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I certainly hope to hear something soon. I realize it's a waiting game, it's just as I see similar or even later PD dates getting approval, I got a little concerned. Thanks for the words of encouragement! I appreciate it! :)
