I went to Dubai in November 2018 with a 3 months tourist visa and started working in Dubai after I got my employment visa and got my residency. I only worked in Dubai for 5 months before coming back to Nigeria. I came back to Nigeria in July 2019. Please do I need to get police clearance from Dubai and how do I go about it

Generally one is needed if stayed for more than 1 year but some consulates have requirement of certificate of stayed for more than 6 months as well. Check the embassy's website, it should have detailed info.

You might not need to obtain your PCC from UAE as travel.gov.state informs people:

Comments: Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/UnitedArabEmirates.html

Perhaps users who've lived in UAE before and then left can confirm (as I've seen sometimes the advice on this page is not always current).

But,  this link explains how to obtain the clearance when you live abroad.
