Hello Everyone, I really hope I can find some guidance here. I am a US citizen and I applied for an immigration visa for my parents who live in London, UK - IR5 in March 2020. They have different visa reference- LND numbers. Both parents DQ arrived 2.5 weeks ago, NVC replied that they will contact the US Embassy in London and let us know the interview date. I am thinking about their medical exam, whether They should do it in the next few weeks. Do the US Embassy in London give the same date/time to do both parents visa interview together or separate ( is there a choice)? Visa Medicals in London told me that medical exam can be done for parents together or at different times. When I asked her does it make a difference, I was told that doing medical together, will get you Embassy Visa interview together also. Does anyone know if this is true?

My both parents had TB about 20-25 years ago, so they got hospital records to show successful treatment then. My father is in good health ( no meds) but my mother suffers from Parkinson’s disease (15 yrs), disabled  and has balance problems and uses wheelchair outside at times/long distance. She is mentally sharp and has no dementia but she has soft speech and not loud. My dad helps her at home. She can walk 1000 meters outside daily. I am nervous about mom. Question is- should we do their medical exam together or do dads first and then few days after that, do moms (dad is her registered carer so will have to go with her)?  Her symptoms are better after medication for about 2 hours when her speech is better so timing is very important.

Visa Medicals - will they let dad go with mom when doctor examines her and asks her questions, in case dad needs to elaborate and moms voice is not clear to doctor? What is the process for doing medical for both parents together- both parents do x-ray, blood test, vaccination review and MD physical exam/sit down review - together or get called one after another for each step? How long does it take? Are the doctors friendly or intimidating to patients? Visa medicals have more than 1 doctor available at a time?

Mom cannot fill her medical form that she will be given at visa medical office on the day, dad can fill out for her and she can read and sign it. They were asking for Power of Attorney, dad does not have it, he is her carer, but otherwise she is mentally capable. Hopefully they will accept his registered carer letter from the local council.

I really appreciate any feedback anyone can give. Thank you everyone.

Sounds like your mom's health care needs will be quite significant.  Do you have a plan in place to pay for all of that, since they won't be eligible for Medicare or any public assistance?   Premiums for a plan that will provide adequate coverage may be >$1k/month.

Hello everyone, we found this forum super helpful and can’t thank everyone enough for sharing their experiences.

My parents had their medical exam on Nov 16 & 25, 2021. No issues, dad did his medical exam first on Nov 16, took 90 min. On Nov 25- He was allowed to go with my mom ( as a carer) when her medical was due, took 90 min again. Dad was allowed to help my mom fill another medical questionnaire at visa medicals, mom had to read and sign it there. no issues with moms medical either. Doctor was very nice and polite to them. My parents had taken detailed medical notes from GP and all relevant doctors and physiotherapist for past and current health issues.
Visa medicals said that they mail the medical exam results to embassy for family members together once all members done.

Visa interview was scheduled same day and same time for both on Dec 10, I guess they know that they are family members and share the same sponsor. Visa interview took 1 hour total for both. No issues, and they were asked simple question only. No questions about my moms health, or her caring needs or her health insurance costs were asked. Visa  IR5 issued for both.

Hope this info helps anyone who is a similar situation.

thank you all
