Hi everyone,

We submitted our documents to NVC one month ago (on October 4, 2021) and the status is still showing "Submitted" and not "Accepted".  Is this normal?  I heard that documents are usually accepted within days.  Should I be worried?

I’m sorry now  it takes more than 8 weeks . You can check on NVC time frames to know where they are

Thanks but I'm not talking about time to get documentarily qualified (DQ) I'm talking about how long until the status of your documents submitted is accepted, like they don't have a problem with the documents, and then they start to review your case.

The documents get "Accepted" when they are reviewed after 2 1/2 months.  Until then they are just "Submitted".  Hopefully the case is documentarily qualified soon after all the documents are accepted.  Unless they don't like something or want something more.  then another 2 1/2 months or so.

Wherever you heard that from is incorrect.  The official estimate for NVC review is posted here (updated weekly) -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

That's not how it works.  The case documents will stay in "Submitted" status and unattended until NVC is ready to review them.  Currently, it takes around 8 weeks or so.  There is no preliminary review before the actual review.

Thanks so much for clearing that up! 😊
