SSN questions

We applied for my then fiance-now husbands SSN three weeks ago tomorrow. I checked the SAVE system and got a message that says "Please contact  Maryland - Social Security Administration, SSA (Single Signon) (WS37) to get more information about your case status." We received a letter from SSN two weeks ago saying it was processing.  What does this message mean? Will it just show up or do I need to contact the local SSN office?

We have his AOS packet ready to go but not sure on one question. Where it says "have you applied for a SSN" do we need to mark no since technically he hasn't gotten it yet? Or is it better to wait for the SSN to come in the mail everything for AOS? We marked "no" on wanting to have a SSN issued since we have already applied.

In the same spot as you are, been 5 weeks for me, for about 2~ weeks the status in SAVE has been "Returned to Agency". Called my local SSA office yesterday and they said the case was pending at their office. Couldn't give me any more info though...

I called yesterday to see if any updates. They told me it was still pending and to call back if we didn't have it within the week.

  • 3 weeks later...

So a little update. SSA called yesterday and told me that my husband's application for a SSN would be canceled since he don't not have an Employment Authorization Card yet. We were just told last week that everything was fine and that the card would be arriving in a week or two. Now they are saying they can't verify his information and that we need to wait. Obviously this is incorrect because K-1 applicants are allowed to get a SSN. What other options do we have? Should we just try another office nearby tomorrow on the phone and explain the situation? We only have until January left on his i-94.
