Any news on CR-1 Class? I hope they are only processing only expedited request. Does anyone know if it's my second anniversary, will the visa class change from CR-1 to IR-1 or IR-2?

After second anniversary your visa category changes from CR1 to IR1. IR2 is a completely different category, for an unmarried minor under age 21 years.

Oh got it. Thank you for the clarification. Also, let's say it changed to IR1, do I qualify for an expedite request since they are currently processing June-2021 I believe?

No can't file jointly, since she is not here and doesn't have SSN yet.

You are wrong. A spouse who is still out of country can apply for ITIN and you both can file taxes under the category - "married and filing jointly" using your spouse's new ITIN in place of his/her SSN.

IRS has listed authorized agents outside of US who can apply ITIN on behalf of us. Or we can apply for it ourselves. (Not completely sure about it).

Per my understanding - they are processing CR1/IR1 applications now...they processed till last week of June 2021.  F2A is another story. So it would be advantageous for anyone who converts from F2A to either CR1 or IR1.

They are processing all applications - not just expedited.

Oh wait what? why would NVC tell me they are only processing the expedited cases only. Also they told me Mumbai embassy is very slow right now. Can't get the clear answer from NVC anymore. Why would they just not tell us what's going on and the actual reason for skipping the files? This is so ridiculous and frustrating. People at NVC are not professionals, you just tell by talking to them. I hope it's not going to be another year for me. I can't wait any longer. My wife is very upset over this stupid process.

NVC customer service knows nothing. They have rights not to look up and tell you anything. They are protected by law. They are contractor making $14 per hour and know nothing. It is helpless.

at this point there is no other way to find out what really is going on with our cases at the embassy or at the NVC?

I called my state senator's office today and they said it takes 14 business days for them to get a reply from NVC.

It’s the same with my attorney. It’s really frustrating for them as they try to serve clients. This is a broken system and we all deserve better.

NVC is telling lies/hiding the truth. Its hard to communicate with their customer service in English.

As someone from this thread posted the interview experience of her spouse in mumbai consulate. He said that there were many people attending interview on that day. If I am not mistaken he felt there were around 200 people attending for interview on that day. Might be a bit exaggeration but indicates mumbai consulate is working at normal speed.

True, it's really hard to deal with non English speaker over the phone. I think that's the reason why they put them on the call so people get tired of them and don't call again. lol

After all, this is all we get being good citizens. We have to suffer for the most things. Why do they need to prioritize students in the first place? They don't pay taxes like we do in the states.

USCIS just posted a video couple of days ago on how to seek help with your local congressman or the state senator's office to expedite your case adjudicated. Even they know that NVC hired bunch of nonprofessionals and how they are making the process much complicated then already is.

Just curious, has anyone who applied for a fiancé visa had an interview yet? My fiancés K1 application has yet to be approved since I applied in June and they are still on Mar 21, but I figured maybe I could get a hint as to what the processing time is after approval. If anyone has, could you please post a brief paragraph of your experience and what the process was like.

This process has been very slow and I just want to get a feel for how long it will take for me to get my fiancé here.

Hello @delhiduffer did you get an interview letter? I saw in the whatsapp group that DQ date 07/03 got interview  letter.

Hey @BeHealthy Nothing yet I'm afraid, I'll drop a message here as soon as I hear something. I also saw that one post, but there's a lot misinformation on that group, some people were claiming (I don't know for what joy) that ILs have gone to all applicants who have been DQd till Sept 2021 which seems to be a lie

I am on the WhatsApp group as well and only going on people who actually got IL. It does seem to have misinformation.
