Thank you that makes more sense. So I should use the per computer amount.

Speaking only to what line to use from the tax transcript for income, you should use "TOTAL INCOME". This is what was submitted in the tax filing. This figure should match what is shown under "TOTAL INCOME PER COMPUTER" which is what IRS has determined to be total income after reviewing your return. If the 2 numbers differ, they have made corrections to your filing and come up with a different number for total income.

@Sgholston  Going back to your original question

which one will the NVC count as his income?

a). wage, salaries, tips etc

b). taxable income per computer ($10k more than wage, salaries, tips etc)

c). TOTAL INCOME line

I don't know what you mean by the computer amount.  In the tax section of the form for 2020 enter the amount from the transcript called "Total Income".

Now, since you seem to be confused about the current income part.  Is he employed?  If he is employed, not "self employed" meaning he works for himself, not other companies, then you're going to use his pay stub or pay stubs to determine his current income.  For example, if his gross pay per week is 1,000 then his annual income is 1000 X 52 weeks = 52000.  Then, you include the most recent pay stub from each job as documentation of his current income.

Thank you it’s been determined now which figure I should pay attention to. Thank you all so much for making this make sense it’s sp different in my country (UK), I didn’t know how to read the document. Thanks again everyone. No doubt I’ll be back for something else hahaha!

OK, but you are not acknowledging that current income doesn't come from a tax return transcript.  You understand that.  Right?  Have you got that sorted?

No I didn’t know that I’m so lost. I thought I had it sorted but still I don’t know. As it’s an 1040. Should I call NVC

What is your question now? What would you be asking NVC.  You originally wanted to know what line of the 1040 was evaluated. The answer was TOTAL INCOME line.

“Current income” can be used if it is more than what is on last year’s tax return as Total Income. Current income counts if you have pay stubs or an employer letter reflecting what you make right now…today. If you are self-employed or a contractor, you have to use the tax return number from last year or wait until you file a 2021 tax return early next year.

So this line would be on the tax transcript and not the tax return transcript I assume, as I cannot see this on the 1040  transcript.

I’m really sorry to confuse. My question is the same that I originally submitted.

I was just wondering if I sgouls

ask the NVC as it says on the page the preferred is the tax transcript and not the tax return.

I will double check again but I couldn’t see this line. Forgive me this document is completely foreign to me

There is a section of the form that asks for information from tax returns.  There's another section that ask about employment and current income.  Current income does not come from a tax return, as tax returns are about the past.

What is the current source of income and how much is it?  Answer that, and we can help you determine what the current income answer is.

But if self employed or a contractor then you can’t just use gross payments received because one has the option on Schedule C to take business deductions. That isn’t finalized until the return is filed to determine actual net income from self employment.

We have not been told if this is a regular job with the same exact salary month after month or something variable.

Correction, the preferred document per the i864 instructions is the Tax Transcript, but it's really called the Tax Return Transcript.   Which clearly has a "TOTAL INCOME" line under INCOME (along with a "TOTAL INCOME PER COMPUTER").

And that's why I asked about the source and amount of current income.  😉

Now you've solved half the problem, the tax information section.  I cannot stress strongly enough that the current income does not come from any tax return.  What is the source and amount of the current income?
