I had attached about 20 emails with the I-129F petition and about 10 photos.

I'm wondering how many emails and photographs are required for the K-1 visa interview, because the packet-4 states >> "bring extensive documentation" as proof relationship. (Packet-4 received from Chennai consulate).

Also do we have to make sure that we submit for visa interview the emails/photographs that were already submitted with the I-129F petition ?

Thanks.

The right answer would be, I believe: as many as possible. You can never have too many. True that soem have been accepted with less, it seems, or some say that they were never even requested for the evidence, but it depends if you want to bet on that :)

Number of e-mails would be pretty fair, as long as it covers a good part of your relationship after sending the petition. Other suggestions would be: ymess logs, covering the parts that are for your eyes only, list of the ymess logs, list of e-mails, letters (if you had), along with the envelopes, e-mails with friends of yours/hers where both of you are adressees (sp?) and talk about your relation, receipt of the engagement ring (and the "original" on my finger) - if the case, phone bills - for me, credit card statements, showing the purchases of phone cards - for my fiance. I also included for the interview around 30 photos I believe, but 10 should be also ok if they are from different days

And yes, I did have with me all the originals from the file sent along with the petition by my fiance. I was never requested to present it, but I had it with me.

All these were in 2 large binders, pretty heavy. Not a pleasure to carry it, but, as long as you walk out with the visa... I don't know if Chennai Embassy requires you to send the evidence before or to present it at the interview? Usually only part of the forms are sent before, along with the photo. But I'm sure you'll follow the directions in the packet :)

Good luck at your interview and God help you to be reunited with your SO as soon as possible! (F)

I had hired an Immigration Lawyer before I was even aware of Visajourney.com. The only proof of an on going relationship I had were email and Yahoo Messenger files. My fiancee had been printing out every email and every Yahoo Messenger file each day. The lawyer told me to have her select about 2 emails from each month and print out a listing of all email sent. My fiancee selected 20 emails and attached a list to them describing the content of each. We only had about 5 pictures. Two were taken when we first met and one of the pictures was with her family. The other 3 were pictures of my parents and my nieces. She had her interview 2 days ago and it only lasted about 10 minutes. Mostly, he just asked about a lot of questions about how we met. My fiancee only handed him what he asked for. He spent most of the time looking at my income tax records and asking her what I did for a living. He asked why I had made more one year and less the following year. I think it was a test her knowledge more than anything else as I easily met minimum income requirements. She correctly explained that I had quit my job in 2006 and had been unemployed. He quickly skimmed through the 20 emails and seemed satisfied, smiled at her, and said congratulations. He never asked to see the pictures or any other supporting evidence which consisted of emails and pictures to my fiancee from my parents and other relatives. Hope this information helps you.

journeyman,

No e-mails or photographs are required. If you want to provide e-mails and photographs provide however many you want to provide.

As you quote, the consulate asks for "extensive documentation", not XX number of e-mails.

Right, the concept is that you are attempting to convince a Consular Officer that you have a bonafide ongoing relationship. The thickness of a stack of paper is probably less convincing that a more modest amount of meaningful evidence. For emails, I would select a few (maybe a couple a month) spread out over the duration of your relationship. If you have text of chat session, I would treat that the same. Then add logs of all the electronic communication so the frequency and duration can be easily observed. If you have phone records, include them as well.

I would put evidence of in person contact at the top of any evidence pile.

In our case, we gave evidence we were together twice, communicated using webcam/IM, email and phone several times every week for an average of about two hours a day for all the time from day one of our relationship. All that evidence plus the financial package and original documents fit into a small accordion file less than two inches thick.

I know of others who have needed a wheeled suitcase to get their evidence inside the Consulate. It's up to you.

I would agree that it's not the quantity of evidence that you need, it's whether you can prove that you have a genuine ongoing relationship. Use whatever you have, but stretch it out over the course of your relationship - pictures, ticket stubs, letters, emails, etc.

I'm also planning to bring my original I-129F petition that was sent to USCIS since that also contains a bit of evidence that will help in the interview.
