What about dating websites/apps? Would they be considered social media? And if you have since closed the accounts do you still have to report on the DS-5535?

  • Captain Ewok changed the title to D160 - Listing social media accounts

Social media credit score like China they are rolling out.

If you don't have one, then you don't. Not everyone wants to sit on something like facebook and share every detail in life etc. Between, work, home, school, family, free time, kids, pets, who really has time for it?

I just filled out my husband's IV application this morning and it asked about his social media accounts. He's not hiding anything, so no worries.

It's not about hiding anything but not having any social media accounts and having interviewers assume you are hiding something!

We did not include my wife's whatsapp account on her DS-260, submitted this year. No problem. She has her I-551 in her passport.

Was whatsapp one of the social media platforms included?

The DS160 gives examples of the platforms you'll have to include but the DS-260 omits that information in the sample at https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/DS-260-Exemplar.pdf

I'd really like to see the social media platforms I'll have to include as I like to prepare before filling out forms 😁

I only included Facebook because I too considered Whatsapp to be private. She only uses FB and whatsapp. Rarely uses e-mail. This was for a Green Card visa.

To clarify the DS-260 does not have a list of platforms like the DS160? You can choose the social media platforms you add to the form?

I've included the a screenshot of the DS160 example from https://travel.state.gov/

Hello!

I know we are still far off to preparing to interview, but I saw a post in facebook about listing your social media accounts during the application for D160.  So it made me think about me and fiancé's case.  I (petitioner) use FB and IG, however, my fiancé (beneficiary) does not.  Will that affect the chance in getting the approval?

Thank you!

They WILL send you the DS5535. They want history. I met my hubby on Tagged.com back in 2009. This was the day and age of ds5535 but they still wanted history. Mostly to see how many others he was chatting with.  Did you meet online? They need full disclosure of this, and THEY will follow up.

Good luck!
