Hi everybody,

we have finally filed the AOS following the list from this page.

Felt quite safe so far.

We also got the NOA and an appointment for fingerprinting etc.

Today we got this letter with a list of things tat are missing.

Most is about the Affidavit of support.

My husband is selfemployed and we sent three years of tax returns with IRS certified stamp.

What else do they want?

Also they requested my birth certificate with translation.

I had sent an international birth certificate that includes english.

(thought that would be easier)

Does this happen all the time?

Should we send the same stuff again?

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Pepi

I don't have much advice for you but wanted to say that I was told not to use an international birth certificate. I was told it would not be accepted. However, I have read on here that others have used it so I don't know. I simply had my BC translated. If they are asking for a translated BC, send it!

As for the Affidavit of support .... you said most of the stuff they are asking for is in regards to that. Can you be more specific?

Oh great. We sent an international one... why not, it has the English translation on it? But with the reputation of USCIS being dumb and having to prepare your package so a 10 year old could understand it, I included a letter explaining how to use the international birth certificate to get the English translation of each line. I figured someone would take a 2-second glance, see French, and not care to look further to get the English translation on it. I guess we could get his aunt (a translator) to translate a solid French birth certificate and mail it to us so, if we get RFE'd for it, we'd have the translated one here to mail out.

Pepi,

regarding your birth certificate. You have to submit your birth certificate in your county language and attached a certified translation of it.

@ Angilla

Ja, exactly.

But You might not get a note.

For what I`ve heard it really depends on the Officer that does Your case.

@Raffaella

Thank You, this was my next question. Certified or not.

@all

About the tax returns.

It seems, that they did not accept the "Extension of time to file 2006"

We have sent 2005 as the last year and the extension.

I did not specify what they had asked for, cause it was pretty much everything we had sent.

Just the wrong year it seems.

People do get RFEs all the time for stuff that has already been sent. But yours sounds different, we shouldn't speculate unless you write down word for word what they asked for.

I agree.

We got an RFE for Tax stuff, went to the copy of the original packet, made copies, sent them in and they were accepted.

So who knows, pay attention to exactly what they are asking for.

That`s what we`re going to do.

I was worried for a moment that they don`t accept the "extension to file" form 4868.

Later I found it listed in our letter.

So we will make a nice package with my translated birth certificate plus all they tax stuff they already have.

Thanks for the help,

pepi
