Hi everyone!

Just received an update on my case stating: "case was updated to show fingerprints were taken".

Just to make sure: does that mean that they're gonna re-use the biometrics taken 2 years ago?

Yes

Has any one from EAC seen their online status change to fingerprints taken? I received the biometric waiver notice in December, however the online status has not changed. I used the EMMA bot to chat with an officer and they confirmed that my fingerprints were taken on December 24th from the ASC

WAC filer here too. On April 20, Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken. Yipeee! My biometric is waived! 🥂

How is VJ calculating the time the ROC will be approved? I got an email with a possible April 2023 time. Is there something happening at CA office that is delaying the approvals?

You can safely ignore those estimates.  I have change the estimate decrease by a year, and then increase again by more than a year.

Inaccurate. Not everyone that files an I-751 is on VJ. The estimates are based only on people that have a VJ account

Checking on my fellow Nov. 2021 filers. I thought I wouldn't really mind the wait for ROC but it's kind of maddening to not know if you'll be one of the lucky ones that get approved in less than a year or one of the unlucky ones that wait much longer.

Hope everyone is doing okay and hanging in there!

I stopped checking the progress and just take a little peek here from time to time. I'm busy with work and I'm loving my American life with my husband now. The last time I checked, it took 11 months in CSC. I don't mind getting the 10 years GC quickly, but getting it on time is also welcome 😊

Hi all,

Just a heads up... my Cuban LPR spouse was set to return back from Cuba today after having visited with his family for a week. Turns out, he left his expired green card here at the house because he thought the 2 year extension letter from USCIS would suffice. Nope. The airline called border and customs at the airport in Fort Lauderdale (his destination) and they refused to let him into the country without both the expired green card and the extension letter. He even had a photo of his green card but they refused him entry.

So, he has to go to the American Embassy in Havana and submit a I-131A  form with a $575 processing fee to get a travel document to come back home. Even worse, a lady at the embassy said it could take two weeks or even longer to process the request. I'm going to fax a letter of concern to the embassy and send a copy to my congressperson. Thankfully, he has family he can stay with but could you imagine losing your passport while in another country and then having to wait for weeks while our government processes the travel document? I think something like that should have a 1-2 day turnaround time.

Anyways, wanted to share so that everyone knows that even though the green card might have expired and you have the extension letter, you still need to show the green card AND the extension letter.

So sorry that you’re in this situation. I know, hindsight 20/20, but it is well know that you have to travel with the expired gc and the extension letter. Plus, it’s not like the green card is heavy, why didn’t he want to bring it with him?

It's not that bad, I've heard the British embassy in Vietnam doesn't do anything for their citizen. Paperworks in countries like France or Germany takes forever to get. I believe the US is the country with the most efficient process when it comes to immigration. We have just way to many people migrating here every year.

Another solution is for another (trustworthy) person take the green card back to Cuba and give it to him in the country.
