AOS for VWP Parents Already in the US

My parents already entered the US via VWP. I planned to file AOS for them with I-485 together with I-130. However, filling out the I-485 requires an A-number and they do not have that with VWP. Can we just leave it black on the I-485? Or do we need to file the I-130 first to get the A-number? From what I read, parents already entered the US should file both forms together. Thanks for your help.

They entered on the VWP with the intent to adjust status?

No, they didn't enter the US with the intention to stay. Due to some accident, we wanted to file AOS for them.

It's ok to leave it blank or enter "N/A".
