Hi ,

I just finished my interview for visitor visa , everything was good at the interview , at the end ,they give me paper saying " congratulations on the conditional approval of your visa  . I just checked out my case on the website , the status is " administrative processing "   . I really confused about this.  Any help would be highly appreciated

All visas go thru administrative processing. Could take 2 days, could take 2 years depending on country. Most of the time it is a few days to a week, but if it is a country like Pakistan or something where the background checks are not very good or reliable, it could take a while.

Why would you need a visitor visa?  What happened to your US citizenship oath ceremony?

Good catch.  Something is definitely amiss here.

then the person needs to understand

visa is not actually approved till it is in hand

and the AP can change to Refused and back and forth

Refused does not mean refused as we know it

it is now what they post for AP

only thing that is important is when it says Issued or denied

How  do you know about pakistan,is it media influence or you  have worked in 🇺🇸 embassy  in any capacity. To the best my knowledge,  like many countries we may also have some fraudulent cases including  ,some terrorism related concerns  ,but 🇺🇸 embassy  people  know how to weed  them out ,but pakistan  have next  to none mail order bride 👰♂️😉 cases.

I used it as an example.  And if you actually pay attention to what I wrote, it was based on the fact that the country has no computer criminal records system. Nothing even close to what's avaliable in the US for example with NCIS ( not the show, the actual criminal records system). I can punch your name or social security number into a computer and find out what you had for lunch last Thursday.  They have no reliable way to check history of anyone other than probably going thru a file cabinet by hand. That's the time consuming issue that lands people in a lengthy  AP process.  Name of country doesn't matter. The fact they have 386 PC's running windows  3.1 if your lucky is the issue.

Haven't you ever wondered why Pakistan is one of a handful of countries for which the PCC is not required?  Or why the number of Pakistani applicants who end up in extended AP is disproportionately MUCH higher than for other countries?

Pretty easy to infer that the connection for both is that there is substandard record keeping afoot....

Actually you misinterpreted what the poster said, he did not talk about fraud, he said  background checks are unreliable, This is actually stated in department of state reciprocity pages, and is exactly part of the reason that AP can take so long for Pakistan  - official reference below for you.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Pakistan.html

Pakistan does not have a nationwide system to track criminal activities.  Police Character Certificates are available for a fee from District Coordinating Offices.  However, they are not an accurate reflection of an individual's criminal record.  An applicant who has committed a crime in one district may be able to obtain a clean Character Certificate from that district or another.

I understand  what you said is right, but to malign other people or countries because  of their color or religion  is  kind of offensive specially  from a person who themselves  belongs  to a third world country.

How is pointing out these issues maligning other people or countries because of their color or religion?  No one referenced any color or religion within this thread.
