We're applying for our I-130, we've submitted our documents to the NVC and are waiting for them to review.  I am a US citizen and my wife is a Singapore citizen.  For the visa interview, do we need to request it be in Singapore, or will it default to the embassy there since she is a Singapore citizen?  Will we get separate interview locations (one for US, one for Singapore) and have to interview separately?  Of course, our preference would be to interview together in Singapore, especially since the Singapore embassy is famously quick at scheduling.  I just don't know how much control we have over the location.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Only the foreigner gets a visa interview.  Pre-COVID, some consulates allowed the USC petitioner to accompany the beneficiary during their interview, but that is usually prohibited now.  By default, the interviewing consulate will be the one at the beneficiary's current country of residence (not citizenship), listed in the I-130 petition.  So if you listed in the I-130 that your wife's current physical address is in Singapore, her interview will be at the US embassy in Singapore.  The interview location should be displayed at the top-right section of the Summary Information page when you login to your account on the NVC CEAC portal.

Thank you for the detailed response.  That clears up a lot a misconceptions and gives me hope we won't have to wait a year for an interview date.  Much appreciated!
