Okie Doke, gotta say it................

I see so many people asking all kinds of questions about time for this and that.............BUT...........they don't even bother to fill out a Time Line.

Folks, this can help someone answer your question when you pose a question on the forum.

Take the time to do it and it will be a BIG help for all VJ'ers

Thank You

Carry on..................... :innocent:

While I do agree completely that you should fill in your time line, something that bothers me is when someone asks a question, and someone responds with only a: "Please read the GUIDES" or "do a search." I think we were all new to this at one point (I'm still in the process of learning....every day I come on here actually)...so, yes, a question will be asked once, or twice or three times or whatever by new members. That is how a forum like this works. Heck, I've used the search on here looking for something and never could find what I was looking for.

... and it helps keeps the stats and info on the site accurate. Not only does it help people in giving appropriate answers to your questions, it's also the most basic way you can give something back to VJ in return for whatever help you might receive here! Well said, SqdnGuns... and (to the person who mentioned sigs) while signature timelines are nice, it's the 'proper' VJ timeline that makes a real difference... :)

Heck, I've used the search on here looking for something and never could find what I was looking for.

when you've been here a few more months, see how many people ask, 'what visa do I need' or 'what's a touch' or NOA1, now what', many times a week. You bet a link is what will be posted.

I already just post a link now and I have only been active for a few weeks. I'm amazed at some of the questions that are asked

It doesn't bother me at all to respond. If it's so difficult to answer, then it's easy enough not to respond. ;) I've been a member of a few other forums for a number of years, and if I know the answer to a question, I respond...not a big deal. Or maybe we could set the site up to flash "read the guides" on someone's screen if they ask something that can be answered by the guides. :)

Yes, read the guides....but....all babies must be spoonfed at first. This whole process is overwhelming and the guides just aren't enough sometimes. If a newbie asks a question that annoys you...just don't respond. Some one else that has more patience and that really does want to be helpful will respond. Maybe a response of 'the answer is...blah blah blah.......... and you should also read the guides because they are very helpful and will answer a lot of your questions too' would be appropriate. When I was a newbie on this board, I never posted much because I saw how people responded to several posts. Who wants to get attacked for asking a question? Read the guides...yes it's important, but if all we had to do was read the guides, a forum wouldn't be necessary. VJ would only be a site with guides. This process can be overwhelming and even very emotional. No one is obligated to help, but it would be nice if only people who wanted to help were the responders of the posts. We're all only human. Just my opinion.....

I can't speak for anybody else but when I advise somebody to read the guides, it's because their question indicates they haven't and because it is critical that people study the guides, and form instructions. When they don't gain the needed base of knowledge this brings, they cannot possibly ask enough questions to learn what they need because they don't have the knowledge base to even know what they need to ask about.

We help each other here. The timelines help us help the person asking the question.

These people are NOT BABIES and spoon feeding them is not the best way for them to learn what they need to learn.
