We were approved for AOS and received the green card a few weeks ago. Today, we went into the SSA office and were approved for a social security card, but on our receipt, it says it will be restricted:

"You  can use your Social Security card for work only if you have authorization from the Department of Homeland Security."

Was this a mistake by the agent at the SSA office? I read online that this restriction is for people admitted entry into the US temporarily who may be able to work, but I am a permanent resident now. Is this an issue, or do I need to make another appointment and fill out another SS-5 application to remove the restrictions?

It’s a mistake but see what the actual SS card says

Hey, I wonder if you received your card without restriction or not? (have the same issue!)

I had the same text on my letter even though I went there with my greencard. Can't say something about the outcome cause at the same time I got a letter saying they can't issue me a new card with the name change cause the presented documents were not good enough. Nobody said something about it when I was there 🙄🙄

Ha, despite getting a letter saying they can't handle my name change I received a new card this week with my married name. And despite having the same text as OP in the application letter my card doesn't have this text on it. So maybe it's just a general text they put in there for non citizens.
