How long do medical results take at the Montreal clinic?

My Canadian fiancée and I received our notice that our petition is being sent to the consulate today(!), so we're getting ready for Packet 3 and the next steps.

She lives in Northern BC, so she'll have to take time off work to spend some time in Montreal for the medical and interview. How long has it been taking people recently to get the medical results from that clinic? We're wondering how many days we'll need to expect to spend in Montreal.

Thanks for any advice anyone can provide!

Call the medical clinic in Montreal, they can give you that info. But also, you could consider moving to Canada. Immigrating there is far simpler, and immigration to the US is a massive disaster with insane wait times. Not to tell horror stories, but be prepared for her to be out of status for two years. It’s not unrealistic.

You will want the medical done at lest a week before the interview.

What a profoundly unhelpful thing to say on a US immigration forum, to someone who's already at the interview stage... but thank you for the advice about calling the clinic; that's a good idea.

I know of quite a few canadian fiance that are going to Vancouver to do the medical there. Its cheaper to fly to Vancouver, do the medical, fly home again and after about a week fly to Montreal for a few days for the interview. Its cheaper than having to stay in Montreal for 10 days or so.

Sheesh, agreed.  Anyways, ours was sent that same day as yours so congrats to us both! Which resource are you using for gathering documents/next steps?  I'm guessing the interview will be for late January/early February?

My fiancée is considering the same thing! Unfortunate that it's out of the way, but that might be a safer bet.

Congrats to you too! Some resources we've found:

I'm not sure of the timeline for our interviews yet, but judging from others on the Facebook group's spreadsheet, it looks like 2-3 months from this stage is about right-- hopefully the December holidays don't delay it too much!

Good luck to us both!

Our status changed from "In Transit" to "Ready" today. I assume yours was in the same batch. Are we waiting for the P3 letter now?  The note on the NVC site says its ready to schedule an interview but I thought the Embassy provides the date.  Any clue? Thanks!

Ours was too, and yes, right now we're waiting for the Packet 3 letter.

Right now, to the best of my knowledge:

  • Technically, we could probably submit the P3 email already, since the requirements are available online, but we may as well wait to receive the notice to be sure to do things right.
  • We probably can submit the online DS-160 application, or at least become familiar with it or get started on the application (the website will save it for up to 30 days, I believe).
  • My fiancée and I are making sure to gather everything on the P3 checklist (she's requested her vaccination record and police certificate; I've requested a tax transcript).
  • After Montreal receives our P3 responses, we should receive an email from USVISA.INFO with a link to pay for the interview, and we'll get our interview dates there.
  • Then we'll get our Packet 4s with more instructions for the interview and scheduling the medical.
  • Then the Canadians can schedule their medicals and attend them.
  • Then the interviews!

Good luck to both of us; I hope the rest of this process moves quickly and smoothly! If the timeline stays the same as recent cases, we should get our interviews in early to mid January (maybe later depending on the December holidays' delay).

While your fiancé is waiting for her interview letter, she can gather her immunization records and make sure she has all of the required vaccines.  If she has no record, she can see her doctor and have a titres test done to prove her immunity is still intact and if any vaccines are needed, get them while they are covered under BC health care.

Depending on time between available medical slots and interview, I'd probably choose Dr. Cheema in BC myself.  If it's a tighter window, then Medisys is a good choice.

I also recommend Dr Cheema. My parents did their medical with him last month, and their office was very responsive and efficient.

They did their exams 9 days before their MTL interview. We got an email 3 days later that results had been emailed to the consulate. On day of interview, MTL confirmed they had the results in their system.

Hey! I think we have the same timeline. Our application was "Ready" on the CEAC tracker when I checked it on November 2nd. I am the beneficiary. I already submitted my DS-160 online. Still waiting on P3 though.

I tried sending my P3 email but I got a generated response from them. I think the best thing to do right now is to wait on the embassy to send us updates. I was going to resend the P3 email but my fiancé said it is best to wait.

Right now, I am just making sure that all the required documents is ready and on-hand. I am still waiting on my Police Certificate to come in the mail. Hopefully it will be here soon.
