@Chad W Please remove the certificate or re-post the image with details blurred/erased. I typically lurk on the website to look for updates pertaining to my case and don't post/reply much, but felt compelled to login to flag this.

I don’t think that’s his (this was my first assumption the moment I saw Danielle Radcliffe) It is Harry Potter’s birth certificate. I just googled Danielle Jacob Radcliffe and search images you will see the same thing.

Looking at the sample certificate posted, I would suggest maybe the RFEs could be because there is no signature by the certification at the bottom. A typiical American document would say similar…this is a copy of the records of xyz County…and be signed and dated by the County Clerk. The contractor opening the mail may not be familiar with this style of British birth certificate that nobody actually certifies with their signature. The same thing sometimes happens with British divorce decrees (decree absolute) which are not signed by a judge, but only stamped by the court. For those, an explanation that judges in England do not sign decrees and they only bear the small circular stamp of the court usually works in reply to the RFE.

This is just a guess about the birth certificate based on experiences I have seen with the decree absolute. Maybe those opening the mail are looking for a certifying signature and don’t know it is the valid birth certificate and all you can provide.

Could be, could be. It'd be nice if they would check the norms from the applicant's country before stressing people out with an RFE...but I guess that is asking too much. I'm going to re-upload the same document again today. If I get a response to my message from USCIS, I'll update here.

Yeah it's weird the one we just received from the GRO was not signed but has the seal. It was also typed. The original one we sent was hand-written, no seal, but it was signed.

So who knows what is really going on with all of these RFEs

Sometimes it's the orientation of the scan.  It has to be portrait, not landscape.  Really, I think CEAC just chooses silly things to get hung up on.

Good luck getting it all sorted!

Same thing has happened to me, after checking on MyUSCIS account (and having trouble viewing .tif files) I noticed the uploaded birth certificate was illegible because the scanner contrast was too pale. I am about to upload the birth certificate now.

Have you had any updates as of yet?

I've yet to hear anything back in the 2.5 weeks since resubmission

UPDATE - I got a response to the message I sent USCIS, dated today (18 Nov). It seemed to be automated but also said that their records indicated that they were awaiting my response to the RFE and that my case is suspended until a response is received.

That is worrying since I updated the response nearly 3 weeks ago (29 Oct). However, my USCIS homepage states that the evidence has been received. The automated status phone line also says that the evidence has been received and that USCIS has begun/will begin working on my case again.

So I guess my question is: does anybody have any experience with the USCIS messaging system and what the message I was sent is likely to mean? Should I just disregard it? Any thoughts on what my next step should be? I tried briefly to speak to a human on the phone but you are threatened with disconnection whenever you ask.

Any input appreciated!

Thanks! I didn't know it was Harry Potter's as I didn't look 😅. I am glad OP was cautious anyway.
