Approximately a month ago my fiancé went for his medical exam for his K-1 visa. At the time of his medical, the clinic did not have the vaccinations needed and asked him to come back later for the vaccines. His medical was completed and sent to the embassy with a note that he did not receive his vaccines because the clinic did not have them.

Fast forward, his interview went well and he received his visa and the sealed packet with it last week. However, he just received his last required vaccine today and has 6 more days in country before he comes to the US. My question is can he get an updated I-693 from the Ghana Embassy before he leaves to show that he has all of the required vaccines so he doesn't have to go for another medical exam for AOS?

He needs to contact the medical facility, not the Ghana Embassy.

I have never come across this happening but the medical  facility would need to update the Consulate and ask them to re issue.

Thank you for your response. The medical clinic (Akai House) said they would update the embassy. They provided him with proof of vaccinations but no updated i-693 which I assume he will need to have to avoid another medical.

I'll email the embassy and ask for an updated form. I don't have much faith it will happen but its worth a shot.

Just a notation here: Panel physicians do not fill out the I-693 for K-1 medicals. That would be a DS-3025.

I'm not sure the panel physician will bother with this, and it would then need to be updated with the consulate because the medical in your packet to turn over at your POE would have to be redone to include the newly updated DS-3025.

You can bring the vaccination records with you and find a civil surgeon in the US to do the vaccinations only on an  I-693 for AOS. See this pinned topic in the AOS forum>

Thank you, KayDeeCee. My apologies for using the incorrect terms--I don't want to add confusion to an already confusing process.

The purpose of trying to get a new medical issued from the embassy before my fiancé leaves to the US was to avoid having to pay for a civil surgeon. It is frustrating because it was the approved clinic (Akai House) that performed his medical that did not have the needed vaccines at the time of his appointment.

Anyways, like you said, I doubt the consulate will re-issue it, and we will need to find a civil surgeon for the vaccinations.

Get the complited 3025 ( vaccination records), you can send that vaccination records to the USICS  along with AOS papers.. As vaccination is not mandatory for k1 visa but the AOS

You can always try. It can't hurt to ask. If they do it, that would be great. (Immigration stuff is always frustrating) Congrats on the visa approval, and good luck either way.

And here is the response (below)! I'm actually surprised I got a response at all and from the Visa Chief, no less.

Wasn't what I wanted to hear, but it was worth a shot. Overall, this is a small inconvenience compared to having to wait it out through COVID. Most importantly my fiancé got his visa.

A word of advice for those with interviews at the Ghana consulate: consider not waiting until your medical appointment to get your required vaccinations--they might not have them.

The visa has been issued based on the medical exam current at the time of adjudication. We will not revisit this case.
