Can a green card be delivered to a UPS store mailbox?

Hi all,

I feel embarrassed asking this question since I normally try to be thorough with my own research and should have asked beforehand. We had lots of problems with delivery of IRS documents to my physical address recently, so at POE I had my wife give the CBP officer our UPS store mailbox as the address for the green card to be delivered (previously I had used that as a mailing address for other USCIS documents as well). If it matters, the address format is [Street address of the UPS Store] PMB [#]. PMB stands for personal mailbox.

It is now coming up on 6 weeks or ˜40 days since POE and nothing has arrived. I know that this can take time but right now my concern after doing more reading is whether the green card can only be delivered to a physical address?

Related to this, in myUSCIS the status says the following:

Quote

I-551 I-551 Permanent Resident Card

Immigrant Visa Fee Payment Received

On August 29, 2021, we received your USCIS Immigrant fee payment for your Permanent Resident Card related to your immigrant visa. We will be processing the request for production of your Permanent Resident Card. You should receive your Permanent Resident Card within 90 days of your entry into the United States or within 90 days after your USCIS Immigrant Fee payment is received. If you do not receive your Permanent Resident Card, contact the USCIS Contact Center at www.uscis.gov/contactcenter. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

As entry was on September 19, I am not sure what the "submitted on" date (in red above) refers to and wanted to check whether it has any relation to when the card itself is mailed.

If we need to follow up with USCIS I want to be sure to know what the correct procedure would be. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, the SS card not arriving is less concerning to me than the Permanent Resident Card and we will follow up with the SS office for that.

Out of curiosity, when you listed your UPS Store address do you remember if you used “#” or “PMB” before the box number? I ask because I’m wondering if it makes a difference to USCIS in terms of recognizing that an address looks like a mailbox instead of a physical address. I have read, for example, that green cards are not mailed to PO boxes and I’m wondering whether that happens on USCIS’s end versus the USPS carrier’s end.

You can do this as long as you also included your physical residence address with the UPS store as your mailing address.  USCIS needs to know both.

I put Apt.  XXXX

USCIS does not mail to PO boxes that is true. Has nothing to do with USPS.

Update: as of January 4, the case status shows that the Permanent Resident Card has been mailed. Fingers crossed that it arrives soon - I will try to post another update when it does.

So another update, the card arrived today. It was mailed to our physical address rather than the UPS Store mailbox address that my wife provided at POE. That didn't help to answer the question that I had when creating this thread, but everything worked out so I can't complain!
