question about buying plane tickets

We've been checking airfares and started wondering... Obviously one-way (single) fares are all that we need but they are sometimes more expensive than round-trip tickets. Does anyone know if POE gives people a hard time about entering the US on their immigrant visas if they have a return ticket?

Why would they.

A return ticket is of use in proving your departure if entering on a Visitors Visa, often essential. You could have a season ticket and US Immigartion would not care.

You can use a round trip or one-way, it really doesn't matter.

I happened to find a one way ticket that was infinitely cheaper, so that is the route I took. Many others have used a round trip, and they got through fine.

We plan to use the round-trip option. Sometimes the R/T fare is cheaper than the one-way or just a bit more expensive. In that case, for a little bit more cash you can get a return trip.

Myself and my daughter came in on round-trip tickets. They were cheaper than one-way and as far as immigration is concerned they didn't want to see my ticket when I entered, just my visa. If you have a ticket to return they aren't bothered - it refers to you leaving the US and immigration couldn't give a damn about that.

I was never asked about my ticket when i was getting my papers processed at POE, to be honest i dont think this matters at all

My husband had a round trip ticket when he came in. They never questioned him about his tickets.

I took a single ticket it s some times easy to find a cheaper rate for a round trip than a single ticket...

But you never know you might get lucky getting a single ticket

Ok heres what Im doing,Im getting a one way ticket with zoom airlines from uk to Vancouver as they are really cheap,although I have to reurn to Vancouver for my visa and my wife is driving up from Seattle to pick me up and drive me back with her so my POE will be the border post from Canada to U.S.,no long ques just,pull you over check your stuff and off you go,not sure bout your situation or if Zoom fly to U.S.,check them out.

I´ve done some researching and I figured one-way might be a little cheaper for me, but the trick for me will be to go to Puerto Rico through Panama instead of Miami, which is the usual path. I hope POE is easy in San Juan.
