Just coming here to say that today is my birthday and today is the day my medical expires. There has not been one update on my case since I sent them back my ds5535 Jan 19. My mortgage is due for renewal in one month from today. I should have been able to sell my house in January when the market was on fire because I should have been approved at my interview. Instead I am now stuck having to renew my mortgage at an insane rate that it is right now with a short period mortgage which is just costing me money because I don’t know how long I am going to be stuck in the process for but it seems like forever since I haven’t had one update on my case in 5 months. That’s all. I have been dreading my birthday since my interview in January knowing that it’s the day my medical expires and if I didn’t have approval before it expires I’m probably going to be stuck in AP for even longer than I was expecting. Anyways, I just needed to vent.

isnt it ironic that the DS 5535 is used to extreme vet individuals before they let them enter USA....but here we are, can get our passport back and enter USA for 6 months without much issue while we wait for them to process our DS5535 and do their extreme vetting.

Ah, what great immigration system

When you put it that way it sounds even more messed up 😄

Happy belated!  I am in the same boat as you.  We have 2 properties to sell and if I had been approved in December, we would have sold at the peak as well.  Now my rental has been sitting for weeks on the market and now selling 2 properties in the low of the market when and if we get approved is yet ANOTHER stress.  We are using this as an example of financial hardship in our WOM case... This has not only caused us so much mental anguish but the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Hi all,

Coming from the DV IV side, there's a bunch of us from DV22 that are also in 5535 AP status from MTL. It seems like a few of us are getting 5535'd each day recently for different reasons (travel history, work experience, education, name changes).

To get an idea of how many of us there are,  you can see all the MTL refusals at https://savediversityvisa.org/dv2022allconsulates/ I'm in contact with about 20 of them. We are also compiling a spreadsheet separately.

As far as I know, there's only been one true rejection on the DV MTL side for an overstay. The rest of the refusals are 5535 APs.

Sad to be in the 5535 club with you all. Here's to hoping we get processed before our DV Sept 30th deadline.

feel like DS 5535 is the new form to pretty much keep families apart for as long as possible without being held accountable and to give an explanation

Thanks for sharing with us! It helps us get an idea of where the consulate is at on cases. Feel free to DM me if you want to share the spreadsheet.

Thank you for sharing that website, my mother and sister also are DV2022, let me know how we can get added to the DV spreadsheet. They had their interview on March 17, 2022 and they said everything was ok and that they only needed to send correct police certificates. We sent the correct police certs on April 8 and their status has been stuck on "ready" since May 8. Last update was today actually, but this is likely because we sent an email yesterday asking for status (they haven't replied to that email though, to any of the 3 emails we have sent since May 15 actually). My sister is likely to lose her chance to immigrate because she is turning 21 in July 31 so she will no longer be a dependent after that. Being in such a limbo is so frustrating.

Got another canned response from Montreal Consulate. We went for interview on October 14th and today is June 14th. It is 243 days after interview, case got updated today as they sent a response. Response was from OP03.

My Canadian immigration was SO much less stressful than this. At least they were transparent about timelines. It’s insane to me that with the technology available now, they can’t even respond to an email.
