Hello, new here but have been following this forum for a couple of months now. I interviewed in Montreal on Dec 3 2021 for IR1. Was given 221g for Medical (which was sent just after our interview as it was only 3 days prior) and then received an email Dec 6th to fill out DS 5535...this was sent back on Dec 10, 2021, as it was very extensive (my husband is from US and we had an extensive history in crossing the border over the last 15 years)...and we have been waiting ever since. Been married since 2008, have 2 children together, and we are hoping that we will hear something soon......😔

ah man, DS 5535 feeling sucks! hope your stay is shorter than many of us here

USCIS

January 8th 2014 - NOA1

July 30th 2014 - Case received by NVC

August 13th 2014 - Case number and IIN received by email

September 17th 2014 - IV Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 19th 2014 - DS260 Completed

October 6th 2014 - AOS and IV Packages Received

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

February 6th 2015 - Case Complete: Supervisor called from NVC to confirm everything has been completed now.

March 27 2015 - Interview Date

March 27 2015 - Approved!

Our passports are still at the embassy. Medical has expired. We will wait for a bit more before asking for passports

Now that your medical is expired, is it on you to make sure you get another one? Or does the embassy notify you and request you have another one?

Embassy has to initiate the request

Did everyone get a white 221(g) slips? Or are they still doing colour coded 221(g)/is that a myth?

I got a white sheer of paper saying i was being refused under 221(g). I don’t know anything about colour coding, and I somewhat doubt the colour of the paper has anything to do with anything. This sheet is being given out to the public, not for internal use where colour coding would make sense.

Yeah I thought so but I saw some things about colour coded sheets and I was going 😬

Hope you’re doing well!

I am ok. But no sign of the end here, 157 days after the interview and 154 days after submitting DS-5535. Just continual limbo with no known end in sight. I try not to think about it too much, because I am basically powerless, but it really irritates me.

The point of the K-1 Visa is for you to be able to start living with your fiance right away.

Not sure where you got this idea, but it is simply not the case.  Even cases without the DS-5535 can take up to two years, or more.

There is no "right away" in US immigration.

There are color coded sheets, but I haven't heard about it at Montreal so I don't think it applies here!

Question about semantics:

I was not told I am in administrative processing, but does the DS-5535 mean I am in administrative processing?

My 221g sheet says additional processing is required.

Thanks
