So I got this response today but the irony is I wasn’t inquiring about time but something totally different (noticed a spelling error on my name). My question was definitely not answered and my last update is still Jan.7 🤦‍♀️. But I haven’t seen this response before on here.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for this follow-up.

Your case is currently still under administrative processing. As soon as the administrative processing is complete, the Visa Unit will advise of the next steps if anything else is needed to complete processing the case.

We realize that these extended time periods cause frustration to many individuals, and we are sensitive to the fact that the purpose of the immigrant visa program is to facilitate legitimate travel to the U.S.  Nonetheless, the Consulate in Montreal, like all U.S. Embassies and Consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law, and, in some cases, this involves extensive consular review and administrative processing.

While we cannot predict when the processing of your visa will be completed, please be assured that the Consulate and the State Department are aware of your concerns and will contact you as soon as the processing is complete.

We hope that this information is helpful in replying to your inquiry.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Regards,

So I flew last week to Florida, and immigration officer at Toronto was friendly, he asked me where I worked ,why I am going to states and for my return ticket. I showed him my job letter, return ticket and letter from mother in laws hospital. I fly back to Toronto on Sunday. It has been exactly 3 months after interviewing and still no updates from Montreal!
My husband is going to contact his Florida senator so let’s see what’s happen!  In the mean time staying positive and upbeat! And thankful / grateful to all of you for your support! Stay blessed stay positive!

I guess I will have to try to risk it and visit my wife, too, now that it looks like I will be kept in the black hole of AP for an indefinite amount of time. With 10 days to go on the medical, and no updates as of now, not looking to be any chance of me being asked to send my passport back any time soon.

Hi all, I just wanted to say hello from Scotland! I am also waiting in AP,  my interview was in London on 14 December 2021. Everything went well and they said it was approved, but then sometime in December it went to ‘refused’ and we’ve not heard a peep since. My husband has been living in Texas since the 2 Jan. We had hoped we could travel together after the holidays but the Embassy apparently had other ideas :( I’m living with the parents again and I quit my job in December, so the days are long and it’s so hard not to continually check the CEAC website. No updates for me since 10 Jan.

This process has been really tough on us and I’ve found a lot of comfort reading your messages over the last few weeks. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for everyone waiting for case updates. Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread. This is no fun!

Welcome Rozle. I really hope you don't have to wait much longer.

I had my case updated on March 1st based on response to congress women inquiry. Today I noticed at the bottom of the page there was 1 and 2 and 2 was update on March 7th. I thought this was because we are two people with one primary applicant and the spouse. So what does this indicate?  Does this mean they updated the spousal file?

I’m not too sure actually I haven’t heard of this happening on this thread, can you show it on her (just block any sensitive information) so we can take a look?

Yep. That’s how I feel too. It is apparent that I am being sucked into this black hole where you can just be held indefinitely, with basically no remedy.

Yes, so it seems, already past midday here, with 9 days to go on the medical expiry, that hope that this would be settled has evaporated. Monday would be 6 days to expiry, and the consulate is only open 5 days, and it takes a day to transport by courier and a day back, and never mind the visa processing with the passport who knows how fast they do that. It is sad, infuriating, bewildering and fundamentally ridiculous that I am caught in this black hole of AP. But here I am.

And as I have stated before: if they want to, there does not seem to be *any* reason why they cannot keep someone in AP *indefinitely*. It's like, they can use that as a way of denying someone a visa without actually making a final decision on it based on explicit law. It's like the ultimate power by simply just letting it languish.
