Consulate received my wife's passport yesterday. Of course now it is the weekend, but still checking CEAC status again; for now still refused, last update Feb 2. Really hope to see some movement on this next week.

My wife's passport is still stuck in Canada post in Richmond, BC, I already contacted the customer service many many times, now I do not know what to do ? Any people have any ideas ??

Thanks

Sorry to hear that. What has the response been from customer service? Have they provided an explanation why it is in BC?

No explanation, only  say monitoring and investigation, and promise to do something on it. But nothing happens on it. Very frustrating.

Sorry if you've already answered this, but have you submitted a public inquiry to the consulate? They tend to reply to these emails faster than the ones sent to their direct email and with more detail. Honestly, I also think you should consider getting your senator/congress rep involved. Let them know that they've essentially misplaced your passport and that it's on the other side of the country for no reason. This seems like more of a case where they can help directly and can put pressure on the consulate. The consulate should not be forgetting about your case and make it a priority to find asap, this is really ridiculous

Just a question, what is really the difference between the direct email and the "public inquiry"?

They claim that they aim to reply to the public inquiry in 2 business days, but that's about it. I did find that they replied to that a lot faster than regular inquiry. I had sent them a few emails over the course of 2-3 weeks about a certain problem and got no response, but they replied to the public inquiry in 1 day.

In your situation if you contact them use both methods. After 3 month waiting I decided to go trough public inquiry, the answer was a copy/ paste message, so I did email them, answer was basic but different.

l also sent a public inquiry to the consulate, so far there is not response yet. As your suggest, I will try to contact the congressman to see whether they can help.

Thank you very much for your reply !!

I can’t think of anything else You can do, except calling Canada post (if they are the ones who are delivering) and requesting an escalation of your case….

So terribly irresponsible of them!!! :(
