Submitted Tax returns (not tax transcript) as my financial document. Document was accepted but NVC messaged me asking for Evidence of income. What do they want exactly?

I submitted my tax return for the most recent year as tax transcript was not available at the time. My income for the most recent year was above the povertly line. I did not submit for previous 2 years as I was not earning during those 2 years. I also submitted W-2 form. IT seems they have accepted my documents but they still messaged me in CEAC where it stated "submit petitioner's Evidence of Income ". Not sure what else i should submit. SHould I submit my recent tax transcript ( it is available now) and perhaps my contract from my employer (where it shows my annual gross income for this year )? Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Yes, I would get the last couple months of paystubs, but also if you have an employer who is willing to provide a contract/statement saying how much your annual salary is, I would include that as well. General rule is, give them more information than they ask for, they will ignore what they don't need and you will save time with RFEs in the future.

Note that for modern pay stubs that show YTD figures, one current one is always sufficient.   Note that tax returns are about the past.  They are asking for evidence of current income that should have  been sent in originally.  This is mentioned in the form instructions.

Faced the same issue on June20th 2021.

And it has cost me additional 3.5 month time in process of bringing my wife to U.S.A. I had the exact same understanding you and only submitted my past 3 years tax return transcript. All are above poverty level. But I still had to submit past three months paystubs. And finally NVC approved the case. You might not need to submit past three moths worth checks if you don’t have it. Please check how many month worth is sufficient.

This is very frustrating because even the email they sent, that had a link and which points you to submit tax returns only but they actually want your paystubs. They need update the website immediately for further suffering of people who will apply in the future. I’ve emailed them regarding this but they sent me a generic reply back with gibberish info.
anyways, submit your recent paystubs for up to 3 month(if possible)  Good luck.
