I Just found out last week before 4th of July from Dos that the security clearance has been completed and forwarded to chennai consulate in recent days. Exact day unknown. I was so happy to hear this, but today I rec'd an email from consulate saying they have not rec'd the clearance form DOS as of yet?

I feel like I'm back to step 1, what do you people advice? Who should I contact next? I have already contacted my congressman and they rec'd the same reply from consulate that they are waiting for clearance from DOS.

This is really frustrating. I am trying to rationalize this by saying the mail was delayed due to national holiday. Am I kidding myself? This is the second clearance my fiance is going thru.

I feel like giving up this whole thing!

Has anyone else experienced this before. 13 months in AP

me and my fiance are going thru the same procedure, I called up DOC yesterday and they said that the case is under security clearenes and it has been 2 months now since under AP.

My question is to you that is your fiance case has already interviewd?

is this 13 months from 2 securtiy clearance or only 1?

why there is 2 security clearance?

the 13 months is after the initial interview and includes 2 security clearances. the second clearance was done b/c first one expired. How very efficient these people are. He has had 2 medicals and 2 police clearances, he may need to do a third time b/c the second set is expiring in one month.

u mean the 13 months after the interview juts for security clearance or its 13 months all together from starting the application till the security clearance?

okay my question is now this, how much time it took for the 1st securtiy clearance and then how much time it took for the 2nd securtiy clearance does take?

and what you mean by expiring the security clearance is there such a thing, and if it then for how long is valid the security before it expires and didnt he get his visa right after the first securtiy clearance?, why they have to wait until it expires and then do the 2nd clearance

why he have done 2 medical anyway?

No they are saying the AP has lasted 13 months now since after his interview was May 2006. Gurdip security clearances are done from the time they get the first form until after the interview. Some cases are pulled at the USCIS level, some get pulled at NVC, and then you can have a third AP at the time of the interview. Edited: to say that you can have AP at any or all stages, but most couples get AP after the interview stage. And certain people that have endured AP before the visa becuase of a name hit can still get stuck in security clearances in the US when they AOS or lift conditions on whatever type of visa they arrived.

Security checks run at any time during the processing have different expiration dates.

AT the embassby level:

NO ONE knows how long a security check will take since the embassy will run many and some checks clear fastly and then are expired before the others one are approved. ALL checks must be cleared before the CO can decide to ajudicate the visa, if in doubts of the relationship they can continue to reorder checks until they are satisfied.

Special clearance validity is defined as the period of time from the date of a clearance response from the Department to the ending date of the validity. During the validity period, you can issue a qualified applicant one or more visas without having to submit another SAO request. Special clearances are valid for the following periods: NOTE: this is just a sampling of some of the checks I posted earlier in one of your threads to you Gurdip with a few more and the list is quiet long.

BEAR-3 MONTHS

CONDOR-3 MONTHS

DONKEY-3 MONTHS

EAGLE-12 MONTHS

MANTIS-3 MONTHS( or up to 12 months if returning to the same program)

MERLIN-12 MONTHS

why he have done 2 medical anyway?

Local police reports can vary in 3 months to 1 year before they expired and the medical is good for 1 year. If they are expired you must get updated ones once the embassy asks for them. All applicants must have current police reports and medicals before a visa can be ajudicated too.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mary..Just reading your post and was wondering if I could have your 2 cents worth on my situation..

My fiance filed our k1 last Jan. 12, 2007 & received our NOA1 a couple of days after. Then on March 15, we received a notice that our file was being transferred to his local USCIS office in Honolulu..Since then, we haven't heard anything. He had a previous approved k1 which he cancelled immediately after receiving the NOA2. So our K1 was submitted with a waiver for imbra etc..so I'm just thinking, since we haven't heard anything, it's possible that he's going thru a security check right?

It's really so frustrating at this point since no1 can help us and we don't know upto when it's "alright" to wait.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

So the AP after the interview is stand as COUNSULATE level right, or it may be goes under NVC level where they send my fiance case now for Security clearance?

AP at the consulte level is very common for some countries and usually they are doing an more indepth investigation and it does have to have the prints come back to the USA for clearance. The whole file is usually kept at the consulate level and security checks are cabled to the states for them to get approved and returned to the consulate.
