Hello all.

I filed for the petition of my spouse and all was approved but our baby was born AFTER our I-130 was approved and before we got to NVC stage.on the I-130 there was no mention of our baby on the way but when we got to NVC stage we were clear that our daughter had been born and we filed for her US citizenship. Our baby girl is now two years old, she is a US citizen and resides in Cuba with my wife.

is there anything else I need to do to let NVC know that we have a baby whom is a US citizen? We filed for expedite but we're denied.
we have now been waiting for an interview for a year and two months. Is this the normal time it takes or has it already taken too long ? I was told that if I call them constantly that this will help my case and help make it faster.

any help would be really appreciated. I feel it has already taken too long since I am a US citizen I thought it would be faster, I'm not sure what the normal waiting time for an interview is for our case .

Some consulates remained backed up due to the world-wide pandemic.  Waiting a year is not unusual for some consulates.  "Calling them constantly" will not help your case.  Like everyone else, you must wait until your case reaches the front of the queue for your consulate at NVC.  Your child, being a US citizen, is not a factor in your wife's case.  It is your decision that, your child,  a US citizen resides in Cuba.  Good luck.  Hopefully, you will receive an interview date soon.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

One more for the I 864?

Yes.  Thanks.  That would apply.

I have one more question if that is okay. At the time of filing forms I-864 my annual income was fairly low so I needed a joint sponsor. Now my annual income is higher and I would no longer need a joint sponsor. Do I need to inform NVC of this now or would I need to bring this information to our interview with proof ?

Do a new I-864, updated with your new current income and proof of that (6 months of recent pay stubs, letter from employer confirming annual salary), and send it all to your wife in Cuba via email so that she can print everything and take it to the visa interview when it is scheduled.  You can also upload the new I-864 with supporting documents if your file is still at NVC.  Sorry you are having this long wait for an interview, but in the pandemic era it is very normal.  Good luck!

Yup. Exactly what we did.
Filed I-130 together abroad, child was born, got CRBA done, petition got approved shortly after, included one more person in our household on our I-864 at NVC 😉

As mentioned above, just update the form and upload it on CEAC and have your wife bring it to the interview as well.
