Does writing congress people help?

It's always worth a shot, but the best advice is to make a calm phone call and see where things can go from there. Not much help for NOA2s, but perhaps more so for Embassy dates. Good luck!

Thank you very much for sharing that. I have already spoken several times to the congressional staffer in charge of immigration as she is the one that actually handled everything to intervene when we were waiting for our NOA2. After we got that far, I honestly thought we were done with her and wrote to her thanking her for her and the Congressmans help and thought everything would be smooth sailing from there on out. I will try and contact her once again today to see if there is anything she can do to help us out....again.

Aug. 2001 - met online playing trivia

May 2006 - engaged

06-12-06 - Met with lawyer, filed for a K-1 visa

07-17-06 - NOA1

10-31-06 - Touched

01-29-07 - Found out from USCIS that my lawyer had filed at the wrong service center and nothing has been processed.

02-08-07 - Found out that our petition had been closed back in Oct. 2006. No one was ever notified of this from USCIS

02-09-07 - Began gathering paperwork once again to start all over. Started cancelling our wedding plans

02-20-07 - Filed for a K-1 visa once again

02-27-07 - NOA1

04-21-07 - Originally planned wedding date (had to cancel) :(

05-22-07 - Touched

06-01-07 - Granted a Congressional Inquiry!

06-15-07 - NVC received our approved I-129F petition (I never received an NOA2 via email or snail mail). We are just so HAPPY to finally move on!

06-25-07 - Packet 3 received (but it was rec'd by our lawyer, she has forwarded it on to my fiance in Australia)

06-28-07 - Fiance rec'd Packet 3

06-30-07 - Finally rec'd NOA2 via snail mail. It is dated June 25, same day as Packet 3 was rec'd.

07-05-07 - Mailed back form letter DSL-1076 (Applicant's Statement of Readiness to be Interviewed).

07-05-07 - Just waiting now in hopes of an interview date before APEC

07-13-07 - Received Packet 4

07-30-07 - Interview!!!! - APPROVED!

09-01-07 - Fiance arrives in the USA!

10-06-07 - Getting Married

It's her job to help you - don't worry about re-contacting her.

6-14-07 Resent packet 3 to Embassy after hearing nothing about first try

6-22-07 DOS says "applicant now eligible for interview," ie: they enter p3 into their system

6-25-07 DOS says interview date is August 21

6-28-07 Help from our congressional representative gives us new interview date: July 6

7-06-07 Interview at 9:00 am at the London Embassy - Approved.

7-16-07 Visa delivered after 'security checks' completed

I-129F approved in 111 days; Interview 174 days from filing

Well the NVC sent our case to the embassy in Jamaica in January and we have not received a date for an interview. I contacted my congressman today and I also emailed ALL my senators (lol). So I will let you all know what comes of it.

October 3, 2006 USCIS received

October 6, 2005 NOA 1

November 2, 2005 NOA 2

November 20, 2005 Choice of Agent Sent by NVC

December 28, 2005 Choice of Agent sent by FedEx to NVC from JA

January 29, 2006 IV Application Fee Bill sent by NVC

March, 2006 IV Fee paid $380

April 3, 2006 Packet 3 sent by NVC

October, 2006 DS-230 part 1 and AOS sent to NVC

November 29, 2006 NVC informs of mistakes

December, 2006 corrections made and sent back to NVC

January 30, 2007 NVC completes case and forwards to Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica

July 18, 2007 per email from embassy interview set for September 6th, 2007 @ 7am

July 26, 2007 husband gets pre blood tested for marijuana ~ CLEAN!

Good luck and maybe they will be able to help you. In our case my file went to embassy end of July 2006 and they did not give us an interview date until after my senator contacted them in October. Our interview date was then set for December 12th 2006 and I know that the CR1/IR-1 cases from Islamabad have long wait for interview.

^^^Thanks. I filed for the IR1 for my husband so I'll let you know if the congressman and senator helped. It's just been such a long time and still they can't give us a date. I can't plan anything.

I faxed my senator, at the time it was Hillary Clinton (now I live in Florida) and she was able to get things moving along. Basically my mother was terminal, I really needed my fiance and she hung on desperately for my wedding. She passed away last september and I told her right before she passed away we had received our AOS appt.

It really can't hurt, especially if you are outside the processing times.
