When I was in dental school, as part of our physiology class there was a lab and one of the things we did were "teaching experiments" on dogs from the pound.  Inject various meds and cut certain nerves and I forget what else.  When done we "disposed" of them.  We were supposed to do this type of lab a few times that semester, but after the first session my class objected so strongly that it was not done again (that I am aware of).

 

 

Kind of goes to the concept, "we don't want to see how the sausage is made".  Seeing pictures of a bunch of puppies restrained with their heads in a box used as medical experiments is simply disgusting.

Ugh, dogs would be hard. In our physiology class we used frogs but we euthanized them before isolating nerves and muscles.
