@TSmith, how was your interview?

@Cstewart & @Julio-jimmy, do you have interview dates?

Interview went very well, she got a reject due to her waiting on sputum test results though. At least that's done. She said the interview itself lasted maybe 5 minutes with about 2 hours of wait time. They asked her where and when were you married, where did you meet your spouse, what does your spouse do for work, what do you, and will you, do for work, and how long she knew me overall. They asked for biometric pages, her passport, my taxes and proof of employment, marriage cert and divorce decree. An ok experience overall.

Does anyone know anything about results from Montreal Chest Institute? I know that her sputum test results will take about 8 weeks but, how long does it take for the chest institute to get the results back to Telus and then how long for the Embassy to follow up on the returned results typically?

@BatmanFlow would be the best one to advise about chest institute results.

Regarding follow up on delayed results. This varies greatly from the point it is received by the consulate (ranging from 10 days to 3 months). Refer to the tracking chart prepared by @Danii for more information.

You may want to join this thread. It is titled for those  issued with DS-5535, but those awaiting approval from delayed medicals were also receiving support and answers here:

I am guessing your letter was out of sequence/ schedule because of being DCF?

Good luck with the medicals and the interview.

Omg!! Your timing is unusual so maybe if you let them know what happened and that it's an unusual circumstance, they'll help you get an urgent appointment booked. Good luck, congratulations!

Thank you so much both!! Medical booked for tomorrow morning at Dr Mascarenhas as it was the only one I could get on such short notice. 🤷‍♀️ Hoping there isn't a delay with anything, I wish I had a bit more heads up but I'm just happy to be moving forward!

Another huge thank you to everyone on this forum for chatting with me and helping me through all this. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes etc! ❤️

My dad didn’t need to do a follow up chest scan.
his X-rays didn’t come clear and needed the sputum test. That took two months. Once the sputum tests came back, I contacted my immigration doctor and they sent all the medical results to the embassy the same day. Before that they hadn’t sent anything to them.

Thank you! How did you get the sputum results from the hospital to the immigration doctors? Once the immigration doc sent them to the embassy how long did you wait for approval?

That was directly coordinated by the immigration doctor and the place that did the sputum test.
the immigration doctor helped schedule the appointment with sputum place and then the results were coordinated between the two parties directly. Seemed like they were somehow affiliated and knew that it was needed for immigration.

embassy took about 4 and half weeks to approve after medical was received

If anyone has insight into "activating" my wife's IR1 visa at the POE of Peace Bridge or Rainbow Bridge, please let me know what we are supposed to do.

The expiration date is April 22nd. We are going to be moving in May, but live in the GTA so we need to drive to the border with her passport and do what exactly? I'll bring the immigration file, but really is anything required other than the passport?

Do we go to the regular border guard and explain the situation or is there another dedicated area before then?

Is there a difference between Peace Bridge and Rainbow Bridge for these services?

I see it needs to be done M-F before 3pm. We are just planning on going there and driving back afterward.

I tried to search this topic and went through the FAQ's but didn't see an answer, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Basically, show up, passport in hand.  They will ask you to head inside.  It won't take long.

Just be aware of the limitations on activating PR and returning to Canada (it's been discussed a lot) and any covid requirements because you're technically crossing the border and well, it's all a moving target.

Good luck with your actual move!

Entered USA on my IR1 visa Feb 15. I’m 100% sure I checked off on my DS260 to issue a new SSN. After hearing people get there around 2-3 weeks after entering and I still didn’t get mine I called the SS office and they said they had nothing on record. I call USCIS and they said that it’ll come with my green card (which I know is wrong because of what I’ve been reading on here).
I decided to go and apply for my SSN at the local office and she said she couldn’t because my i94 says I’m still on a B2? Which back in Dec I came on one to visit.

Currently on hold with USCIS but I’m wondering if the border officer never activated my visa?

You don't have an i94 anymore. SSA doesn't know what to do with visas, they took one look at my IR1 and asked me to come back with proof of my work authorization and I had to point out that it says on my visa that it evidences permanent resident status for 1 year. As long as you have your visa and the corresponding stamp in your passport you're good. If you don't, then you'll probably need to go to the nearest USCIS office to get it fixed, but my money is on the SSA screwing up, not USCIS (and that's saying a lot).
