Hey guys, just curious as I haven't received my interview date/time yet, what is the minimum of assets required? Also, if I have a co-sponsor (besides my petitioner) and she has sufficient income, do I still need to prove that level of assets?

Furthermore, if our assets are actual US property, do we just put an estimate value there and show ownership, or do you actually need appraisal etc?

Thanks all!

Thank you Family One! Actually it was your earlier posts that lead me down the path of updating my documentation ahead of the interview, I feel like we're in a somewhat similar situation (my spouse / sponsor has no income, I do but all from Canadian sources). Perhaps a difference is that I have a co-sponsor. I've gotten worried about other things, like the interview prep specifically stating that the co-sponsor spouse needs an I-864A if they filed a joint return but NVC accepting my application without that :(

I thought the forms specifically said that the intended immigrant doesn't fill out I-864A, but it sounds like I need to? It seems tuned to "US residents" though - what did you write for tax information? Did you include data from your Canadian tax returns (and include copies of the last return / T1s / T5s / something else)?

Thank you, I appreciate the advice

Thanks for talking me down ShawnK! Like we wrote before, I'm surely just overthinking things. The whole process is like torture.

All the best and good luck,

I overthink too but we all need to chill out.

In terms of all that tax stuff, you will confuse them. They don't care or accept Canadian sources of income/assets T5s etc..has to be US stuff, uncle Sam-approved/recognized items. Forget Canadian tax data.

Simply have your joint sponsor carefully fill out the form, use their tax transcripts, and have your joint sponsors W2, you'll be good as long as it meets the requirement. NVC will let you know if you don't meet the income requirements.

Got DQed on 10.25.22, interview letter on 01.30.23, appointment on march 09.  Kinda short window between IL and appointment, medical didn't come in time.  Three months of waiting.

Does anyone know what significance the "Priority Date" has? Does it have any bearing on how quickly you have your interview? i.e. If two people with significantly different Priority Dates are DQ'ed the same day, is the one with the earlier Priority Date likely to have their interview sooner than the other?

You will only receive an email.  Print it out - you will need to show it to the office who completes your medical.

If there is a group of DQ'd people who become eligible in the same block of interviews, usually the ones with the oldest priority dates are scheduled first.
