It is definitely possible to get your green card even if the visa is not stamped (that happened to me in July).  The border agent had insisted that he was entering me on a B-2 visitor visa.  Then I received some mail, the SSN and later the green card after the immigrant fee was paid. When I returned later to the same border for official immigration, they had head scratching to do.  They stamped the passport and told me the date the passport was stamped was my official immigration date.  However, the green card still has the earlier date.  I hope that won't cause headache down the road, but I have no idea how to correct it.

Hmm, you definitely should go to a deferred inspection site and get the record corrected. This could cause issues during naturalization.

Correct, they are probably just double checking your Egyptian certificate. Did they give you any other form to fill out or anything?

Yes, i had to fill out DS-5535, all my travels in last 15 yrs

This is DS5535, so it‘s not just a PCC check. This is extreme vetting, and multiple agencies are now involved for clearance. The visa won’t be issued until all the agencies have returned with advisory. Montreal is infamous for this.

How long this will take? And if I may need to redo my medical?

i received an response to my follow up email from the embassy yesterday saying that “ the case now is pending counsellor review…” however when i emailed them in December they responded “ your case is under administrative processing”; is there any difference between the two responses?

does their recent response mean that admin processing is completed?

I'm wondering how I tell what my first name is now..

My name was Katie-Name (hyphenated) Middlename Lastname, legally my first name was Katie-Name in Canada.

On my Visa in my passport it says ..

Given Name

Katie Name Middlename

at the bottom it says VIUSALASTNAME>>KATIE>NAME>MIDDLENAME<<<<<

So is my legal first name just Katie, or is it Katie Name Middlename?

I cross Saturday and I'll probably ask but sounds like a dumb question and I don't want to raise suspicions ?

I have read on their website it can take up to 180 days. Hopefully it will clear by then.

Good news, but wow Sep 12?

It is odd some October folks got it on Dec26 and you just got it now.

They seem to be slowing down.

Yes, I was expecting my IL in November....  No idea what happened there.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common occurrence in Montreal.  There is no telling how long it will take if you were issued a DS-5535.  You may want to jump on this thread and join others who've received the same.

Yep, that's about right. Someone in this post (or the chart) with DQ on Oct 18th has received the letter yesterday. Fingers crossed, we're next! Mind you, they're still sending letters to DQs from September...
