Question:

I am Documentarily Qualified (May 31, 2022) with no interview date yet.

The same time I was DQ the NVC suggested that we add a joint sponsor onto my immigration application. The reason being my wifes (sponsor) current US income is slightly below the guideline however we have more than enough liquid assets in the US to supplement the income. (We should be fine).

The actual NVC Note: This case does not appear to meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

As we draw near to the possible interview we are thinking we should add a joint sponsor (US family member) to ensure that there are zero hiccups.

The Question… In submitting a joint sponsor would that reset our place in the queue? It has taken so long to become documentarily qualified in the first place.

Help!

Are you sure you're actually documentarily qualified? If they're requesting a joint sponsor that means you don't meet the income requirements. Same thing happened to me. I was 'accepted' before I did joint sponsor, but I didn't get DQed until I sent them a joint sponsor and all his supporting documents as well.

Pleasant surprise today, interview for October 5th. DQed June 21st

Very happy for you guys. Hopefully the rest of us don't have to wait until November for our interviews!

Something that others waiting for their interviews might want to know:

I was correct about interviews coming before end of August, but I was wrong about what happens on CEAC. My status still says "At NVC" whereas I thought it would change to transmitted a day or two prior to my interview coming. So checking CEAC after DQ apparently gives no benefit.

I'm dealing with a similar issue, I got the same FE case review notice about not meeting the income requirements, but I also got a message saying my documents have been accepted and I am documentarily qualified, along with an email stating they are going to schedule an interview. As I understand in the FE notice it says "The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview.", so I assume I could just bring joint sponsor documents to the interview? I would think they wouldn't DQ us if they needed new joint sponsor documents uploaded to CEAC, right? I hope so, anyway, should we just upload the joint sponsor docs to CEAC just encase or will that set us back for further review?

I'm not sure and don't want to say one way or the other. I didn't meet either the income or the asset requirement because all of our assets are in Canada, and they need to be in the US to be approved for assets to make up the income shortfall. So I got her father to joint sponsor and we were only DQed 3 months after I uploaded his documents. If you got an actual email and NVC notification saying you were DQed, then you are. I assume uploading additional documents will require an additional 3 months to review, but I am not certain at all, since you say you are DQed already. The next step after DQ is having an interview scheduled. It's possible you could upload the joint sponsor and get an interview prior to them even looking at it. I really don't know. Maybe someone else can chime in.
