Hello there,

I've been a long time lurker on this forum but need some help, my police certificate was rejected by NVC. I really thought I had the right document after reviewing the FAQ. This is police certificate I uploaded and was rejected - can someone point me to an example of the correct one?

Did you order this report under “Privacy Act”? At the bottom of page does it say this statement?…

Yep. The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't have my maiden name on it, as mentioned by others.

That does not explain their wording regarding correct issuing authority and you would think if they need two that they would accept this one but issue an RFE for one in my maiden name as well. It's another 3 month wait between getting the new certificate and then getting NVC to review again so I really hope that's the problem and I don't find out in another 3 months it's something else.

The name should match the name on your passport and DS-260. If it matches that, then you had the misfortune of a Reviewer that didn’t know what they were doing. Since phone lines are currently down at NVC, the only thing you can do is re-upload it (nothing cut off) and in the comment section state “re-upload of RCMP (privacy act) police check. This was previously rejected, however has been confirmed to be the correct version of report required for US Immigration. Thank you” or something similar.

I had my interview on 5/27/22, at the end of the interview the agent said everything looks good, but I needed to submit an official copy of the petitioner’s birth certificate. I submitted the official birth certificate by courier and it was delivered on 5/30/22. My status was updated to refused on 6/1/22. I contacted the consulate and reported to that I had confirmation that the requested birth certificate was received by them in 5/30/22. They responded that they still don’t have the birth certificate, but that does not mean they have not received it just that it had not been processed. It is now three weeks later and my status still says latest updated 6/1/22 and refused but under administrative review. I am getting worried that it is taking so long for them to update my status. Is this long time unusual or par of the course for the Montreal consulate?

 Thanks in advance.

How did you contact the MTL consulate? I found an email address, but they replied and said this address was only for interview scheduling emails, not for checking on documents. Email I used was canada_contactus+ca+info+en@visaops.net

Do you know how to reach MTL to see if they are processing the document requested?

They are known for giving cryptic messages which doesn’t explain the rejection and leaves you guessing about their reasons…

It is all really frustrating and unfair.

If you regularly check your visa application status, you may notice after a few days that it still says "refused", but has a new date which probably will correspond to the date they opened your UPS package.  Like someone else said, expect to wait more than a month from this point before they approve the visa or ask for more documents.

We are a CR1 and in addition to sending the original I also uploaded it to the Supporting Documents section for the IV on the NVC site. Hopefully that's what I was supposed to do.  Is there any other way to make sure they received it for processing? Seems like such a black hole for something so simple.

I have never lived anywhere else other than Canada. Your wife’s police certificate was accepted and it only showed her married name, and she didn’t also have one in her maiden name?

Yes only married name. As like what you said, while filing up information at RCMP she gave her previous name when not married. And on the Police certificate only her married name shown. Like others thought, you might had a not well knowledgeable NVC documents reviewee.

Unfortunately I do think that's the case, the police certificate name matches my passport and DS-260 (I did put the maiden name under other names in DS-260 as per the instructions).

I've re-uploaded the same document with a comment to restart the NVC clock.

I did go back to the commissionaires office yesterday and ordered another one in my maiden name and will upload it to additional documents once it comes in just to cover all my bases.

I do appreciate all the quick responses & advice!

Did you handle the expedite on your own, or was it through an attorney? Asking, because I need to do an expedite for my stepchild. We could not get him into the university and now my husband just DQ, and our sons I-130 is at USCIS. Just looking for direction and letter formatting if possible. Thanks in advance for the help.

On our own. Just call USCIS and ask. You have to expedite there and then request again at NVC unless USCIS will actually send it to Montréal.

Hi everyone,

I just got DQ, however my daughter (Ir2) had an FE last night for not uploading our marriage certificate on her CEAC. I immediately uploaded it right after getting the email under additional documents in civil documents as there was nowhere to upload it under required documents.   Her CEAC shows all documents have been accepted on the home page yesterday evening, but no DQ message.   I am assuming she's going to have to wait 75 days for a review of the Marriage Certificate.

How does the consulate handle this since they will get my application in before my daughters due to her FE?

Ok, I just got DQ.   My RCMP certificate is in my MARRIED last name, however my passport and ds260 is in my maiden name. So who knows what's going on with yours?   My certificates the same as yours.

Get a police certificate in your maiden name. They may want it at the interview. If they want it and you can’t produce it at the interview, that would cause another 45 to 60 day delay.

I’ll get it done. However I just got my new passport back that reflects my married last name and RCMP check.  Now it will just be the dd260 being in my maiden name

When I did the RCMP check I wrote down my maiden name as well to be checked, but unfortunately it doesn’t come on the certificate
