Hey! Question, has anyone spoken to the Montreal embassy recently re police certificate expiry? On the website in one place it says 2 years, another it says 1 year and then @Hawk Riders on your document it says 2 years? I just want to be sure! I wanted to call the embassy today to ask-but they were already closed. Thanks friends!

It’s 2 years.

You cannot call the consulate, you can only email them. This has been done by others - the discrepency brought to their attention, and confirmed that the police certificate is valid for two years.

Thinking about collecting documents for my eventual interview (April 7 DQ). We only have a copy of my husband's divorce decree with an original county clerk signature & seal stating true copy and that the original is on file with the county.  Should I order the authenticated/exemplified copy that they offer?  They're not going to give us the original decree. Thanks!

You don't need the authenticated/exemplified copy. The true copy from the county is good enough.

Just thought of sharing this. No intention to confuse all and mislead to the main topic.

Today I received this Newsletter from CIS Ombudsman as a stakeholder. I believe this will be a good news for folks who will be receiving CR1 visa

Here is another link from USCIS https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/uscis-implements-risk-based-approach-for-conditional-permanent-resident-interviews

If you think this would be a great information to add to the FAQ for future source, please include it.

This is in fact good news for those who are granted a CR1 instead of an IR1. USCIS is also working towards clearing much of their backlog over the next year and a half or so which is good news for those who eventually want to become citizens. Unfortunately it doesn't have any bearing on those waiting on Montreal haha!

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

The Canadian police certificates mention that its valid for 2 years but some countries only issue PCs which are valid for 6 months. For US embassies are those 6 month valid PC also good for 2 years?? Or should we just get new ones?

It doesn’t matter what the foreign country says the validity is. All that matters is what NVC/ consulate accepts.

Validity of all certificates is 2 years for the country you are currently residing in. For countries of previous residence, it is indefinitely valid, so long as it has been obtained after one was last in the country. If not, it is 2 years.

If you haven't revisited those countries since you've obtained the PRC for the respective country, then it's not necessary, anyway.

Has anyone here tried booking for a medical exam with Dr. Cheema through email? Did his office responded right away or did it took them some days to reply? I called his office today and I think they only do the bookings through email.

I did, they were very quick to respond by email and very helpful. I couldn't book by phone either

Did they replied within the day? I emailed them this morning and still no response. I needed to fly from the US and is arranging for child care that’s why I am hoping to get things situated as soon as I can.

They did respond within a day for me, not sure what they're usual response times are though. Here's the information that they'll need to book your appointment, this will help you get your appointment booked faster:

Full name (on passport):
Interview Date:
Case number:
Phone number:
Age:
Requested appointment date:
