6 months or 3 months for applying

Hello,

 

my husband is been in the united for almost 2 years n 6 months now. Whats the earliest date we can apply for his citizenship? Can I apply 6 months early or is it 3 months early? Thank you

He is able to file for naturalization 90 calendars early so about 3 months.

Don't be in a rush to file because if it is received 91 days early, it will be rejected.

If by “in the US” you mean he entered on an immigrant visa, and that is the date listed as “resident since” on his green card, then 90 days before the 3 year anniversary of that. Clarifying because sometimes when  people enter on a K or other visa and adjust they think that time is still counted  for naturalization purposes, but it is the “resident since” date on the green card that counts.
