Hi everybody!

OK, i have to ask a couple of questions. I told you my fiance is Nigerian, and if he were home would be going thru the K-1 process thru Lagos offices. But he is in India, he has been there a year on a business Visa. I was wondering, if i filed a K-1, can we do that while he's in India even tho he's not a citizen there, can he go thru the process there, or would he have to go back to Nigeria to go thru the process?

#2. I have been told 2 different things, and need to know for sure.

first, that Lagos Nigeria won't let you use a sponser on a K-1 process

secondly, that they will let you use a sponser on K-1.

Has anyone used a sponser (for Lagos Nigeria) that can answer which one is true?

thx you all

have a great day!

Denise

It depends on the Consulate. My then fiance went through the South African consulate---and we had a cosponsor. No problems whatsoever. But South Africa is an easy place to get a K1 visa. India is probably different. My advice is to go the India subforum and ask how they deal with cosponsors. I know one girl, who's Nigerian finace in Nepal had an awful time getting a visa--BUt that is Nepal. It seems to me that India is a hard place to get a visa though. PLus, the have to approve you to go through their embassy. But I don't really see that as a problem. Again, my advice is to ask the people in the Indian subforum.

Hello,

My hubby was a student in Europe for a year (on a student visa) and was able to have his interview there for his fiancee visa. As long as your SO has a visa there and claims residency in India...it should not be any problem. We had no problems and we were blessed....quicker interview time and it was approved w/ no problems. I wish you the best :)

As long as your fiance is in India legally, you guys can apply for the K1 visa there and can also make use of a co-sponsor.

love can touch once and last for a lifetime
