So, what is the (unofficial) verdict on I-129F speeding up the I-130 approval? Does anyone have any insight? Personal anecdotes? Obviously not looking for an official USCIS position on the matter since there isn't one. At least not publicly, but interested to see if it just feels like it speeds it up or if the anecdotal evidence really is piling up in favor of speeding it up.

A Facebook group I'm in has mixed answers.

It appears most people were approved at the 6 month mark after filing the I-129F. But, others filed and were still waiting after 8+ months.

Some members filed the the I-129F and then after 1-2 months got approved but, correlation does not equal causation.

I personally don't think it changes anything. But, the form is free to file so, if you think it can work give it a shot and report back.

I agree.  I've never seen ANY evidence that it hurts to file the I-129f, but no conclusive evidence it causes a quicker I-130 approval.  If it were me, I'd file it.

Is it possible to file I-129F if living abroad? I've seen conflicting answers.

I don't think it will matter. They aren't going to approve the K3 visa. It's supposed to nudge USCIS to pick up your i-130.

ETA a couple months back a user filed a I-129F from Korea for a K1.

Of course, it's possible.  Why wouldn't it be?

On the subject of anecdotal evidence....

1. NOA-1 in March online.

2. "Actively reviewing" in April.

3. Total silence for 6 months, during which I read here that some submit new evidence at the 6-month mark.

4. Prepared another PDF covering the relationship for the last 6 months, uploaded.

5. 2 weeks later, "Actively Reviewing" is changed.

6. 2 days later - Approval.

This is so much the Cold War's "Mausoleum Politics":

All we can see is the order of Soviet leaders at the annual Victory Parade atop of the Mausoleum. And the dynamics of the changes from year to year is what we judge by as to the internal politics inside the politburo ))).
