@anita21 they were very friendly, in fact the person who was interviewing me was in training, and there was another USCIS official teacher her, who acctually happened to know my lawyer who came with me! So there were jokes and laughs.

In my I 485 didn't say I was divorced since it was done 2 years ago, so I was asked for the divorce documents, all the work permits and the medical, and that is it! They asked me all the questions from I 485 form, and she announced that my case has been approved!

This is how the favor of God plays out…all things will work for our good! I’m smiling from ear to ear!😃 God will never share HIS glory with anyone! To God alone be all the adoration!🙏 Congratulations once more!🍾🥂🥳🌟💫

Hello Guys, I have a question regarding Divorce after VAWA approved.

I married in 2015,

things did not go well and we got separated in 2019 ( During this 4 Years we never filed any I-485 or I-130 due to bad relation and abuse, i was not able to work , i did not have work authorization )

I filled VAWa in  2019 and it got approved in 2021.

Now i am planning for Divorce.

within last 2 years i worked my butt off and saved every penny and bought a House, i have some money in 401K, however prior to separation i had no money or asset.

We have no kids or nothing under both of us.

We are not in contact any more, i do not even know where she lives now.

I want to file for divorce, I am in New York

what is the process of getting divorce.  ?

what kind of divorce i should file since i am not able to locate her.?

what happens to my property and 401K?

Does VAWA play in role in my favor during Divorce?

Thank you

Does your spouse know about your property and 401k?

if she knows about your property then she could put you in a big mess.

However, you would file for uncontested divorce. Just google it uncontested divorce vs contested divorce.

It is good to contact a divorce lawyer.

It is Wednesday, and therefore time for our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

==============================================

A BLONDE AT THE CINEMA

I went to see a movie the other night.  I sat in an aisle seat as I usually do, because it feels a little roomier.  However, just as the feature was about to start, a blonde from the center of the row got up and started working her way out.

"Excuse me, sorry, oops, excuse me, pardon me, gotta hurry, oops, excuse me.”

By the time she got to me, I was trying to look around her and I was a little impatient, so I said, "Couldn’t you have done this a little earlier?"

"No!" she said in a loud whisper.  "The 'Turn Off Your Phone' message just flashed up on the screen, and my phone is in the car."

:P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
