Hi Family!

After weeks of collecting whatever evidence I could of my bonafide marriage and abuse, I finally sent in my I-360, I-485, I-765, and I-131 last week to VSC along with a check with filing fee for I-485. it was very traumatic to write the whole personal statement. I hope I had pen down by emotions for the officer to understand. I also attached the police clearance and good moral certificates.

May I ask how much time it takes for check to be cashed? Because my check has not been cashed yet. I'm getting really anxious as to why. My previous EAD is still valid so I'm hoping new EAD comes soon in atleast 6-7 months if possible but I'm curious as to when will I receive the receipts of the above applications?

Can somoone guide? Thank you!

Technically you should get your receipts in 3 to 4 weeks. However, Lately there is delay with USCIS and they are taking 2 to 3 months to send the receipts.

Last year i got my receipts after 70 days and that too with the help of congress person.

Thank you so much for your detail reply one question is that you have to apply for your citizenship in the local field office or you have to apply in the Vermont service center and then they will transfer to the local office

When you apply online for naturalization you don't get to chose the office where the application is going to. I presume it gets sorted automatically to the closest center to your address.

@Stillwinning!!!😊 OMG !!

I am still confused about no medical request!!

Background: I have been here since 2004. Did some digging, Medical request is very very common but not technically necessary if you read the language from USCIS. Lawyer e-mail, said not to worry about medical, he will do what he needs to do and call in a day or so to go over if we need to do anything.

@sandranj can you tell me if you have seen this happen lately. I did find quite a few cases like this on reddit  and other forums!!

TimeLine:

I485, I130 - 11/2018

I360 - 5/2019

RFE on 360 (Good faith marriage) - 7/2019

360 approved - 11/2020

Transferred to local office (Newark NJ) - 1/2021

485 approved - 3/2022

Screen Shot 2022-03-07 at 2.13.16 PM.png

Congratulations. You mean your case was approved without medicals? That’s great 😘

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi Angelmia! When you filed for your EAD renewal, did you not get the 180 days extension? You could have used it to maintain your employment - just a suggestion. Send your A-number and see if that can help! I'm rooting for you!

The ead renewal was denied , I had extension that has run out too. I am asking for a fresh i485.

When i sent my renewal in the first week of October 2021. I did not receive my receipt notices until end of December.

So i reached out to my congress person. I provided them my A# and they were able to get me the receipts in 3 weeks.

I would say reach out to your congress/senator. They will help you to get the receipts.

Please what is an A#. Although my lawyer is saying that for a renewal it is different because the case already has a receipt number. This is a fresh i485. So nothing to make inquires on. But please what is an A# if it is something I could use to locate my file. Also how do I reach my congress person

A# is a Alien number. It starts with A followed by 8 or 9 digits. (On EAD it might say "USCIS# followed by 9 digits".

It should be somewhere on your previous receipts that you received from USCIS or if have have received EAD in the past it should be on it.

Just google who is your congress person by entering Zip code. Then go to his/her website and contact through their. You can even call them by the number provided on their website.

If you have any  other questions feel free to ask us here.

Yea, seems like it! I will update as i get the card and get in contact with my lawyer!

It maybe be possible. Truly speaking I don’t understand the need of USCIS asking for medicals if someone is living in the country for years. If the person has a contagious disease, it means the person has already spread that disease to many, so what the need of medicals in this case?. But I understand USCIS asking for medicals to someone who just recently came in here because they wanna protect that person to spread the disease.

Exactly what I think and found. I went to school here, same state NJ,  so obviously I am upto date with vaccinations. Plus your point about communicable diseases
