Tax transcript 2020

Hi there, we are currently waiting at the NVC stage (submitted September 15)  and I am wondering if anyone else has been in the same position.

My husband is an independent self contractor, and we submitted his 2020 Tax Return, 1040 + schedules with an IRS office stamp saying received, tax extension receipt, and 1099's. Plus previous 3 years of tax transcripts. Because he paper filed 2020 tax return as married joint + application for ITIN number, there is a huge backlog with IRS - and we are unable to get the transcripts for 2020 in time for NVC and probably the interview when it comes. There is a current backlog for paper filed taxes and I read these are taking up to 6 months to receive.

We also submitted copy of bank statements, proof of assets - several property leases, a letter from his boss/company that he has worked for +20 years as an independent contractor and continues to do so. I am anxious and worried to know whether at NVC stage or interview, we will be unable to move forwards by not having the 2020 Tax Transcript (which is out of our hands and with the IRS)? Do you think we will be ok?

Has anybody managed to get approval at both stages by not having the most current year transcript?

Thanks!

when i filed for ITIN (sorry precovid but it still took a long time)  i had to submit my 1040 and 1099's and other interest statements to NVC in lieu of the IRS transcripts (with letters from retirements and my annuity saying my yearly income)

NVC accepted these and my country was high fraud

i had the IRS transcripts by time of interview

u may not have them in time as i read some from UK are going fast from NVC to interview (posted on here)

make sure your 1040 has copies of all pages including the W7 showing u applied

if u did the tax returns by April 15th date ,  you'll probably have the transcripts as needed

if u waited for the extension  in October,   then who knows when they will be  completed

This thread might be interesting to you https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/763423-2020-joint-tax-returns-with-w-7itin-application-post-your-timelines/#comments  A few comments today (see the end of the thread) are about approvals without transcripts. Your situation is a bit different but it might be a good read to see if you find anything helpful.

I think you have submitted all you can under the circumstances and it should be sufficient.

Thank you! The thread you shared is very helpful and I made a few replies there. Now to sit back and wait for hopefully a DQ with no RFE 🥺
